Since my multiple posts on high/low hemlines, aka mullets, I’ve been seeing more and more examples of the style. The Telegraph did a celebrity/runway slideshow, which includes a couple of the looks I’ve shown but plenty of fresh ones. I’ve noticed that the white Cushnie et Ochs dress worn by actress Teresa Palmer has been particularly popular: Rihanna wore it dressed down, while singer Ciara wore it dressed up.
The wedding mullet, most memorably worn by model Stephanie Seymour in the 1992 Guns N’ Roses video for “November Rain,” was brought back by model Anja Rubik, who wore Pucci for her real-life wedding.
I’m holding out for the Zang Toi gown that first got me interested in the high/low look, but I did ogle this navy Michael Kors that is now on sale at Bergdorf Goodman.
If you’re wearing this style yourself, but missed getting into my Huffington Post mullet slideshow, send your photo to wbjewelry at hotmail dot com, and I’ll post you here.
By the way, the Anja Rubik wedding gown was pointed out to me by gorgeous, London-based ex-blogger Samantha. When MrB and I were in London earlier this month, Samantha and her handsome husband Andrew took us to see The Beggar’s Opera in Regent’s Park’s open-air theater. I was fascinated by Samantha’s Manoush dress, especially because I thought it was a top and skirt all night. I was only enlightened when I asked her how she managed to find such different yet color-coordinated separates.

Samantha and Andrew. Aren't they a cute couple?
Samantha was also wearing my gold squirrel necklace, though it can’t be seen in this photo. I’m amused by the fact that the squirrel was just out of reach of the wolf printed on her dress. I think the wolf looks a little pissed off about that … don’t you?
Live, little squirrel, live! There is something I don’t love about the Pucci wedding gown — I think I’d like it all-short. Your friend’s wolf dress however, is awesome.
Totally cute couple!
I just love the foxy top, could almost be a sheltie
I love Samantha’s dress! And I think you should go after that BG dress.
I’ve always kind of wished Stephanie married Axl.
Anja Rubik is stunning. Everytime I see her, my mouth drops. Too bad you can’t see the squirrel necklace… I think the wolf swallowed him.
Can’t blame a wolf for doing wolf things!
Didn’t we have a lovely time! We should have got more photos though! That’s true, I hadn’t thought about the squirrel being beneath the fox!! ha ha.
Perhaps in the style of Wendy B I will wear the dress again when I see you next year! xxx
Love your take on the mullet – it’s not an easy style to wear. Enjoying your blog 🙂
Go on, get the Kors dress. It’s an artful mullet; it doesn’t look as if the ass has suddenly decided to bloom. Love it. Nothing will approach, however, my sudden love for the shiny fox top of Samantha’s dress.
I do love the Michael Kors dress – interesting and unique. Samantha’s dress with the shoes is very wonderful and fun!
The “mullet” is a perfect name for the short at the front wedding dress because it is equally as declasse as the haircut!
I love the idea of a dress that’s longer at the back than the front – it’ll cover up the varicose veins on my calves quite nicely!
I wonder how one would bustle a mullet dress?
That Anja has some crazy kneecaps. Damn.
I like Samantha’s dress (and her Furla bag)!
I told her I’d seen that bag on your blog!
I remember watching that G&R vid over and over and swearing that I was going to wear a wedding gown like Stephanie’s someday! HA!
mullet dress is now on my wish list

It’s true that mullets are everywhere–and you’ve been way ahead of the curve. The Man Repeller had a mullet dress on her blog today or yesterday, I think. One of her transition pieces picks. (Not sure that made sense.) I’m still looking for my perfect mullet.
Your mullet dress posts inspired me so much that I recently picked one up and am rocking it so hard! Is there anything more comfortable and versatile? Thanks for the inspiration, Wendy!
