Here’s a “What Wendy Wore” outfit for each month of 2013. Click the photos for the original posts.
I got the year off to a lively start with the vintage dress I wore last New Year’s Eve.
I wore fuchsia again in February to Vanity Fair’s Oscar party. My designing friend Zang Toi made this gown specifically to go with my ruffled, blue jacket by Junya Watanabe.
Good fashion lasts a long time. In March, I wore a leopard-print Diane von Furstenberg dress I got in 2002. I wore the same dress again the following month so I could be camouflaged while visiting Africa.
In April, I had a more satisfactory experience with a crazy-looking pair of Prada boots than I’d had previously.
I tried a different way of wearing another challenging piece in May. This psychedelic vintage top looked better with a navy skirt than it did with jeans.
I met a female bodybuilder on a trip to Las Vegas in June and we struck a pose together. I wore a Castelbajac dress for the occasion.
I met Grammy-nominated singer Skylar Grey in July. I had designed jewelry featuring her double-ax logo, so that was definitely the most important part of that outfit. Here you can see my ax necklace with an Alexander McQueen top.
In August, for a special Eminem concert hosted by G-Shock, I wore what’s become a frequent concert outfit: one of my two Damien Hirst skull t-shirts, jeans and lug sole shoes I got in London this summer.
My designing friend Zang Toi dressed me like a mermaid for the Fashion Week party he threw in September.
My outfit for a Nine Inch Nails concert in October was inspired by ’80s Madonna.
I felt great in this high/low dress by Zang Toi at the Committee to Protect Journalists International Press Freedom Awards in November. I’d previously worn it in 2012.
I’ve got a new picture for this month. On Monday, December 23, I went to dinner with the family for my birthday. It was very warm that day, with a high in the 60s. It was also warm in my apartment. You know those days when you’re sweating while you’re IN the shower? It was like that. At the last minute, I decided not to wear the wool dress I had planned on and put on an Ossie Clark dress that I usually wear in the spring.
What Wendy Wore for Her Birthday Dinner
Dress: Vintage Ossie Clark (acquired in 2009, previously seen here)
Boots: Prada (2008 or 2009, previously seen here)
Purse: Prada (same year as the boots)
Necklace: My own design
Lip color: Pleasure Bomb by RiRi Hearts Mac
The pearl pendant is one I redesigned for myself in 2011. Here’s a close-up of it.
Even after I redesigned it, I wasn’t wearing this piece much. Recently, I realized it was because the 18″ chain wasn’t right for the pearl. I switched it to a 22″ chain a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve worn it nearly every day since. I’m also wearing the fuchsia “Pleasure Bomb” lipstick from Rihanna’s collection for MAC a lot. Great staying power and it goes well with all my fuchsia dresses. I think it’s sold out online but you should be able to find it on eBay.
Have you decided what you’re wearing for New Year’s yet?

If ever there was a woman BORN to wear Ossie Clark, it is you! Lovely. What a fun year for you, and it was a treat to share a bit of it on your blog.
Looking extremely good, young lady!

You are a fantastic calendar woman. Each magnificent outfit has an equally riveting story behind it.

Outfits are only interesting to me when they have a story to go along with ’em! 🙂

I’m so glad Stacy changed your mind about shorts. The world needs to see your legs!
You had really great looks last year. I always feel inspired by your fashion choices. I loved how you styled the mary jane boots. The DVF dress looks like it was custom-made for you. But the Zang Toi dresses, wow. He really knows how to create for you. I think today, my favorite is the high-low dress. So clever and wonderful.

Zang knows how to make women look good!
