Unlike this year’s Golden Globes and SAG Awards, the Emmy Awards didn’t inspire me to bestow my coveted Best Dressed/Wear What You Want combo award upon anyone. Too much cement, too many safe looks. But there was one dress that made me think, “I would wear that”: Emilia Clarke’s (Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones) dress from Chanel’s resort collection.

I adore purple and high/low hemlines (aka mullet dresses). I think my purple and black Tom Ford shoes might have gone better with Emilia’s dress than those conservative nude pumps. And I would have happily loaned out my amethyst Marie Antoinette ring for the evening.

UPDATED TO ADD: How could I forget Portia de Rossi’s lace jumpsuit? It was offbeat enough to be deserving of a Wear What You Want award, but the subdued color stops me from giving it my combo award.

Your dress is much better – more drama and your shoes are great with it. She looks uncomfortable, you look like you own it. I prefer Kitty Portia’s fur coat to Portia de Rossi’s nylon curtain ensemble.
