When celebrity manicurist Tracylee Percival gave me a manicure with Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips in March, the design lasted for two weeks.
I was impressed. Like Minx, another long-lasting nail product, there’s no drying time for the strips. Unlike Minx, no heat lamp is needed to seal the product to the nails. So if you’ve got steady hands and are good at doing your own nails, you can buy the Sally Hansen strips in the drugstore and apply them at home yourself.
After that manicure grew out, Tracylee and I switched to a gold-and-silver-flecked black Sally Hansen design called . It looked fabulous with my bold 18K gold and black spinel Clemence ring.
That one also lasted close to two weeks.Yesterday, Tracylee removed the last bits of Lust-rous with regular nail-polish remover, and gave me Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips in golden Glitz Blitz.
I always encourage people to mix gold and silver. (I blogged about that here.) Why not? You Only Live Once.
My gorgeous mother, BarbaraB, got a Sally Hansen nail strips manicure from Tracylee too. She picked the red-and-black I Love Lacey design.
I’m not being paid by Sally Hansen to promote this stuff. I just appreciate any nail color that holds up well. Regular nail polish never lasted more than 48 hours on my soft, easily broken nails; I used it only when I had a special event to attend. Then a friend told me my messy manicure was distracting from my rings. I didn’t want to waste time and money on 48-hour polish, so I was happy to discover Minx nail applications in 2009. Then Tracylee introduced me to Gelish soak-off gels and now I’ve got the Sally Hansen strips. All three products have lasted at least a week for me and often two weeks. Minx has the best metallics …
… Gelish is ideal for fun nail art …
… and the Sally Hansen is the easiest to apply. I recommend them all. If you can get Tracylee to do the honors, the results are even better. You can follow Tracylee on Twitter here.

Okay, here’s your first commission due from Sally Hansen – you’ve sold me on these after eyeing them with suspicion in the store for a long time. I don’t wear polish, even though I love buying it with some wildly deluded notion that I will a) have the patience to put it on and b) have the patience to take it off (the proper way). Your nails look fabulous, perfect for showing off jewels!

I haven’t tried to APPLY the Sally Hansen strips myself — from reading some reviews, I would say if you’re not patient enough to do regular polish, it would be worth bringing these to a pro if that’s in your budget. At least a few people found it tricky to apply on their own till they got the hang of it. You’ll be really happy with the results if you have a good application!

You found some really awesome designs! I’ve never seen any of those. I have tried the multi colored glitter ones and I have to admit they were pretty cool. My only irritation came with taking them off. I discovered the foil method and then everything was better 😀 If you’re a fan of long lasting polish, have you tried the UV free gels? I wrote a post on UV & UV free gel polishes and I had a really positive experience 🙂 Please stop by if you get a sec 🙂

You always get the best manicures…I love the metallic ones especially, although your mother’s looks great. I also like that your fingernails are not Talons!

great thinking – bring the strips to my manicurist! I’ve tried them and bumbled them all up on my own.

You tried all the nail strips I want to get! I’ve used another brand’s nail strips (NCLA) and they were awesome too.

I tried a zebra one once, and didn’t like it. However, I’ve been considering giving it another try, and you’ve just convinced me.

I still want to try any of the above. I can’t even keep clear polish from cracking within a day. I do too much with my hands to keep polish on. I’m also an admitted nailbiter. Ahh well, I’ll have to admire your polish adventures for now! My fav is still the metallic snakeskin though.

I am so going to try bringing the Sally product to my manicurist! I always seem to chip within a few days.

Love the black and white manicure. I like the strips, but I haven’t figured out an easy way to remove them.

I’ve been using these for a while too, and just bought a new design yesterday. White with black polka dots. These things are a genius invention, even better that someone else does them for you!
