I very rarely suffer from buyer’s remorse, but every once in a while I come down with a case of non-buyer’s remorse. Right now I have it bad for the silver Giuseppe Zanotti wedge sneakers that Sporty Spice wore at the Olympic closing ceremonies.
I loved those sneakers when I saw them, but I sternly told myself I had flat-soled silver sneakers that I don’t wear very often. Plus, I already had black leather wedge sneakers by Ash Shoes. I didn’t know then that my love for wedge sneakers would grow so much. The wedge sneaker is perfect for those of us who don’t like to look too casual (or short) when out and about, but still appreciate comfortable footwear for things like schlepping through airports and dancing at concerts. When I got dressed to see the Go-Go’s last week, I really wished I had those silver wedge sneakers to go with my silver Stacy Lomman jacket.

Zanotti currently has flat-soled silver sneakers; pink-patent wedges; and silver wedges with a sheepskin lining. None of those are quite right. I’ll have to keep an eye out for a return of the non-sheepskin silver wedges or patent wedges in another color. Pink sneakers are not for me, especially during October, when I’m already fed up with breast-cancer-related fundraising and pinkwashing.
If you want ideas about how to work wedge sneakers into your own wardrobe, the Huffington Post has resolved the technical problem that made my wedge-sneaker story there inaccessible for a few weeks. Woot!

The Go-Go’s, by the way, were fantastic. Lead singer Belinda Carlisle’s voice sounds the same as it did 30 years ago, and it’s still a thrill to see an all-female band. “Girl power!” — as the Spice Girls would say — and it didn’t require pink.

Hunt them down until you find a pair! I’m sick of the Pinkitis as well.

I have learned that if there is a pair of shoes that I really, really want, I’ll just get it. Not letting another Miu Miu daisy heels hunt happen again! I’m sure you’ll find your silver wedge sneakers, Wendy!
(Why not sheepskin though? I’m against eating lamb and using sheepskin because…. they’re too cute to be slaughtered like that)
And yes, I’m getting tired of breast cancer awareness campaigns. All the pink and brands coming up with new collections are just too much. I’m all up for awareness, but not to the point they’re overly commercialised. You don’t see the same sort of retail hype over prostate cancer awareness.

For the sheepskin, I’d just prefer a sneaker that could be worn all year rather than one that look winter-y — especially because I hate winter!
If I were the color pink, I’d sue the breast-cancer peeps for ruining my reputation.

I can’t believe it was 30yrs ago the Go-Go’s were in full-force. Happy to know I’m not alone and fed up with up with breast-cancer-related fundraising. I want to know if it’s just another marketing ploy or are these companies really donating for the cause.
BTW I really like the Giuseppe Zanotti Sneakers I can see why you have non-buyers remorse.

Belinda asked, “Who here remembers 1981?” A bunch of us were like, “Me!” And she said, “Good for you, I don’t remember a thing.” LOL! Those girls partied hard back in the day!

So sorry about your non-buyer’s remorse – I get that too! The silver wedge sneaks would have been fierce with your outfit. That is so cool that you saw the Go-Go’s, and looked fabulous in your extra-awesome silver (non-baked-potato-like) jacket! Eee!
Thank you so much for linking to Breast Cancer Action – they are my favourite voice of reason amid the unbearable horror of pinkwashing.

I have that non-buyer’s remorse about once a year. I can see what you mean about wishing for these sneakers. They’re really great.

I might have found a consolation prize. Will let you know when they arrive!
