A gorgeous blogger sent me a link to this vintage suit by Jean-Louis Scherrer ages ago, and suddenly the page is popping up in my browser all the time. I take that as a sign that the suit desperately wants to appear on my blog.
The ruffle at the bottom kills me! I remember Scherrer as being so hot in the ’80s and early ’90s. His daughter Laetitia often walked the runway for him. (Another daughter, Leonor, has served as a muse for Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy. She was also the subject of a 2010 New York Times article that claimed she had started a line of mourning clothing.) After Scherrer was fired from his financially struggling company in 1992, the buzz around his design house seemed to fade. Alas.
I would have loved to get my hands on this crazily fringed and bejeweled Scherrer bolero, but it was sold long ago.
I would have worn it with a t-shirt and jeans … what else?
That suit is amazing. Holy crap.
Oh yes, I would wear it with a T shirt and jeans also! I would wear the top to the suit and the shoes…the skirt for me might be a bit aging…but the top is structured so beautifully…
The suit is great but those SHOES!!! Wow.
Holy crow, that jacket/top is awesome!
That bolero is a-freaking-mazing. I’d wear it with harems and heels or some vintage black leather pants. I want. xxx
That ruffle caught me by surprise! I was really interested in the tunic-y-looking top and the seaming of the skirt when that asymmetrical pastel ruffle pulled me up short! Dang! This suit has it ALL.
You have the best chic/happy eye for vintage. I will now drag my Ozbek wine Lesage embroidered bolero out, jeans and a long cami.
Ooh yummy. The ruffles on that suit are wunderbar.
Hi there-what a gorgeous suit, the hemline is just fabulous! x
Wow, that’s a real scroll-down picture! It looked like a nice, fairly ordinary suit at the top, scroll down and CRAZY at the bottom 😀
The bolero is an amazing work of art. It would be so incredible to own such a beauty.
What a fabulous suit. Great colour too.
Fabulous shoes as well.

absolutely beautiful and fabulous!
The bolero is wonderful. Jeans would be the perfect match to “ground” it a bit.
oh nice. i like the top.
The suit and ruffle bottom and shoes are GORGEOUS!
The bolero with a T-shirt and jeans would be totally fabulous. And the neckline on the dress is just awesome…I love a neckline that puts a woman’s collarbone on display.
I’m a big fan of ruffles especially to enhance my flat chest. I love when a classic suit gets embellished with feminine details and the ruffle at the bottom takes it over the top (in a good way)
that bolero is stunning!
