MrB and I went to the annual awards dinner for the Citizens Committee for New York City last night. Our dear friend Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel received a lifetime achievement award for her contributions to the arts. Former New York governor Mario Cuomo introduced Barbaralee, but MrB wouldn’t let me take a picture of him. MrB wouldn’t let me take a picture of Matthew Broderick either. Broderick was there to introduce Broadway theater producer Rocco Landesman, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. Ferris Bueller‘s night out!
I finally wore the Zac Posen gown I got at Trudie Styler’s (aka Mrs. Sting’s) sale in London in 2008.
Superstylist Julie Matos did my hair in curls. Our friend Robert said it made me look like a 1920s Shanghai lady. I also wore the Stuart Weitzman shoes I got in November and my own jewelry, of course.
Damn, look at the Alexander McQueen jacket I passed up at Trudie’s sale because I was trying to be “good.” I have non-buyer’s regret far more often than I have buyer’s regret.
UPDATED TO ADD: See Bill Cunningham’s photos from the event here.
UPDATED AGAIN TO ADD: Good thing I have this blog to serve as my memory. I didn’t remember that I’d found a twin to this dress last year. Check it out here.
That dress is so beautiful, and you wear it so well! Which season was it from?
You look stunning! I’m so jealous of your deal. I tried to, but didn’t have time to go to a charity sale at Selfridge’s a few months ago. Sigh, to have gotten goodies like these…
My lord WendyB, you are quite the stunner. 1920s Shanghai lady indeed!
