I’ve got bad news for you. Blogger Janet of Je Ne Sais Quoi (also known by her blogging identity, iheartfashion) suffered a tragic loss this week when her husband took his own life. He had been unemployed for a period of time. Janet has two children, ages 7 and 9. She needs some financial help. You can donate any amount of money to her via Paypal by clicking on the “donate now” button in the upper right corner of this blog. (UPDATED MARCH 2, 2010: I’ve removed the button but you can continue to donate via this website.)
I know everyone is tapped out from donating to Haiti-related causes, so I’m giving you the chance to donate and get something nice back. If you buy one of my Teeny Genie necklaces for $50 plus shipping and applicable taxes, I will donate $35 from every purchase to Janet. Valentine’s Day is coming up. Get an adorable necklace for you or someone you love and help Janet at the same time.
Please note:
- Genies will cost $61.40 for U.S. priority shipping with delivery confirmation, excluding taxes.
- Additional taxes will be automatically charged to New York State residents.
- I will have to calculate shipping for international locations. After I receive your order, I will figure it out and send you an invoice with the total.
- The Genies will start going out Monday and I’ll let you know when yours is on the way. Please click here to read more about the timing of the shipments (scroll past the picture of me in a Lady Gaga t-shirt!).
- Click here for updates on the fundraising effort.
- I am low on Genie-size jewelry boxes and would prefer to send without to keep costs down. If you MUST have a box because this is a gift, send me a note. Otherwise, assume your Genie will be free-range. If I send you a jewelry box and use larger shipping packaging, I will be donating $30 to Janet instead of $35.

Bless her heart. This will be a tough time. Hopefully people will try and give what they can.
Bless you Wendy–what a wonderful idea!
Oh Wendy, this is heartbreaking. Janet is such a strong and wonderful person. I’m so saddened to hear this. I can’t see the Donate Now button on the site. Is this just me (could be cuz I’m at work)?
Update – I do see it now, at bottom of my screen for some reason…
how sad, how very sad.
This is so sad, may she find some light from all of these and thats so sweet of you!
Shit. I’m buying one and posting about this. Thanks, Wendy.
Adding this to my blog post and sending it out to my friends!
This is such sad news. I am keeping Janet and her children in my thoughts. Thank you, Wendy, for helping out. xxx
My prayers and thoughts are with Janet. She must be going through an unimaginable time right now. I will make sure to donate to that account. Wendy you giving part of the proceeds to this cause is amazing. You rock!

I am so sorry to hear this, but it warms my lil’ heart to know that you are doing this for her.
Stay strong, Janet!
How awful for everyone involved. Once again, Miss J is touched by Miss Wendy’s generous spirit. She will keep this family in her prayers.
Donated a little something since I’m already a proud Genie owner! Janet and her little munchkins will be in my prayers!
Retweeted – so many good thoughts and wishes for Janet and her kids, this is horrible.
So sad, this makes me cry. I’ve added this to my “This Next” account so that even more people will see it. My condolences to her & her family. I hope this helps a bit.
Oh my terrible news. Poor Janet. I’ve read her blog for years and her kids one with their lovely Paris adventures. Such a terrible shame. I’m truly shocked.
Oh no!! My heart goes out to her and her family. Many prayers said for them!
Oh no! I don’t know Janet, but I would totally donate if we had anything to donate (which I know a lot of people say as an excuse, but Matt got laid off a week or two ago and so on, so forth). I did RT it and will link to it on my blog, and send good thoughts her way. Bless you, Wendy, for doing this, you’re a sweetheart!
So tragic. A beautiful idea, Wendy.

This is so sad! You’re wonderful for making the donation. I can’t even imagine how unbearably difficult this must be for her. I will spread the word!
I am beyond speechless about this. My heart aches for Janet and her girls. Does anyone know if a general trust is being coordinated for her in which we could also donate? Tragic is indeed the word.
We are never too dried up to help out a fellow blogger, even in a small amount. So sad.
My heart goes out to her – will donate to her now via your paypal link.

I am so sad to hear this, but that is so kind of you to do this for her.
Although I wasn’t familiar with her blog, I clicked on the link and also looked at the two blogs featuring their adorable children. That made my heart ache even more. That family’s grief, confusion, and loss is beyond my comprehension.
My husband was out of work for most of last year and only recently started back to work. The financial and emotional strain has been enormous so I can somewhat understand the dynamics, even though every person’s situation is different. How sad that his despair overcame everything else.
I will keep these dear people in my heart and prayers.
And God bless you, Wendy. You are very special.
Oh, no! That is the saddest thing ever! I wish that I could do something—–unfortunately, my hubby just got laid off a few weeks ago—this after 6 months of rehab. after an accident at work—so he hadn’t been working for awhile—-so we are over strapped. I will just have to keep her in my prayers—-bless you for helping….
What a tragedy! My thoughts are with Janet and her children.
There really is nothing to say, this is just so heartbreaking. Thank-you Wendy for helping us to help.
Hey you… so glad you found me, and I found you again.. I’ve really missed your posts!!!!! I had to move my site from some crazy stalker girl…isn’t that nuts?
You look fabulous as ever!!!
How very sad. Thank you for setting up a fund.
My heartfelt condolences to Janet. She, her husband and her children will be in my prayers. I will donate to PAYPAL, I hope this little bit helps.

having experienced two suicides with family members, sadly, i know the pain…many prayers and thoughts being sent her way with hopes her children are also protected in their pain…may all be blessed with the loving energy of this sweet world.♥
I was aggrieved to hear this ð Genie ordered. <3
Wendy, posted to blog as well.
Wendy you are so amazingly kind to do this for a friend. What a devastating loss your friend had suffered! I just ordered my Genie necklace. I am more than excited to help out this cause as well as to receive my necklace. You are truly an inspiring soul!
