Gorgeous blogger Kathy of Fasshonaburu joined me for dinner at sushi restaurant BondSt last night. (We recommend the fried oyster roll.) My jewel of the evening was my 18K gold lotus flower necklace with a sapphire in the center.
I’ll have that one at my pop-up shop later this month if you want to see it in person.
The sapphire inspired me to wear a coat-and-dress set with vibrant blue ribbon detail.

The coat and dress are by Francis for Fall 2009. The Jil Sander boots, which you can also see here, are old. I can’t remember exactly when I got them, but I had them when I worked at Lehman Brothers and I left that job in 2005. I originally tried on the boots at Bergdorf Goodman, but the last pair was half a size too large for me. I became determined to get those boots. After calling all the U.S. stores I could think of, I called the Jil Sander office, where I was told there was no hope. No boots for you! However, nothing inspires me quite as much as someone telling me there’s no hope. I started calling stores in Europe. Ultimately I described the boots to bemused but helpful Harrods sales associate, who sent them on their merry way to me.
Sometimes I think that I should put the energy spent on something like tracking a pair of boots into more important endeavors. But then I think, “Nah.” Unimportant endeavors need love too.
gorgeous colour blue!
i love your outfit and the necklace could not be more beautiful! <3 stunning
Are you kidding me? I LOVE a good shoe search. I did a crazy search for a pair of Jil Sanders too.

“Unimportant endeavors need love too.”
…. Exactly! Good detective work! Have I ever told you about the roll of film we found in DC and through clues in the photos we were able to return the vacation photos to their owner. 🙂 Fun stuff.
Hello my gorgeous WB!
Love the look, and that necklace is stunning (as is the Leger you linked ~ wow!)…

Hey, congrats on the pop up shop! I will be there… in my dreams 🙁

Love the dress, boots and most especially the necklace. Such a delicate yet beautiful piece!
Oh how I wish I could visit the popup shop. And that is a LOT of hassle for a pair of boots – but they certainly look like they were worth it!
i am in love with that dress!
Damn right they do! Your clothing tracking skills are amazing.
You look gorgeous. But then again, you always do.
Side note: did you see Coco’s Halloween costume?!?!
You look fantastic, beautiful necklace especially, and love the soup nazi reference!! (I’m watching the runruns while eating my lunch every day!) xxxx Lots of Love x
You must be daft?! Footwear unimportant?!? Never!!
You look stunning, as usual.
I love that you went boot crazy until you found them. And I LOVE that dress and jacket and your necklace…too pretty!

Unimportant?! That seems of the utmost importance- those boots are awesome!!! I love your necklace too, WendyB, and how you styled your outfit around it.
Great outfit! I love the little touches of blue that tie all the pieces together.
Your tenacity is admirable, as are the boots!
I’m calling you the next time I need a detective!
I’m wearing my silver lotus with the pink tourmaline right now. I love it.
There is no more important endeavor than finding your dream boots.
These boots were totally worth the effort. They are really fantastic!
Boy have I spent hours tracking down fab pieces…last one was a RL Purple label military coat..found the last one in my size in DALLAS!! LOL
The necklace is beautiful and you, with or without the coat, are stunning!!
wow, that’s dedication! But totally worth it for such gorgeous boots.
I love the ribbon detail on the coat and dress. I’m so matchy matchy, I NEED a coat/dress combo in my life!
