I’m finally starting to see the results of my plan to take over the world: two hot celebrities are wearing WendyB-approved items this week.
The first is Alexa Chung, the MTV It Girl who makes all the fashion bloggers’ hearts go pitter patter. She’s wearing the Matilda sword necklace from my jewelry line on page 79 of the September 2009 issue of Marie Claire. Woot! Marie Claire kindly put this feature online. Click the photo to see the whole thing.
If you haven’t read my Book Club posts on Empress Matilda, the inspiration for the necklace and one of my all-time favorite royal ladies, here they are.
(Yes, yes, the Book Club posts will return. I’m working on it. I swear.)
Thanks to the gorgeous bloggers who posted about the Marie Claire credit, including Susanna, Jillian and Geri. If I haven’t mentioned you, it’s because I haven’t seen it yet! Holla at me and let me know.
The second celebrity is my personal friend Jen Weitzman, who wrote about the Francis dress I helped her pick out.*
Jen doesn’t have a TV show, but all of my friends and clients are gorgeous A-list celebrities to me, and I will cut a bitch who dares to say otherwise. I’ve got a Matilda sword necklace and I’m not afraid to use it.
*On my now-defunct Francis blog.

The anti-spam word is darling. A fine word but faintly descriptive of these two WendyB-approved items. A more fitting word, in my estimation, outtasight!
dreamsequins says
I crush Alexa Chung. Does that make me unoriginal? She seems like a lovely girl. And even lovelier now that she’s been spotted in WendyB!
That sword necklace is crazy.

congrats on more recognition! That Matilda necklace is just stunning!
After work I’m going to read those links to Matilda. I just love British history and how it unfolded. I also finished last month a series of books on the War of the Roses – The Sunne in Splendour by Sharon Kay Penman (I only have 3 of them)
Winona says
Oh my god, this is so exciting! Your necklace is so eye-catching in that first photo, I barely even noticed the person wearing it! And the fact that you got THE Jen Weitzman into a Francis dress? Priceless! She looks simply amazing!

Oh congratulations!!! I love that sword necklace, it’s fabulous!
K-Line says
W: When your stuff appears in mags do they call you to advise? Or are you as shocked as everyone else when you see it / blogger informs you? Also, when you see photos (of bloggers or celebrities) wearing your stuff, do you instantly recognize it (like it’s one of your babies)? Jewels are so little in the scheme of a big busy photo, yes? (I mean not huge like a dress or jacket). Just wondering if it ever escapes you or if you have an eagle eye about all jewels in photos. Must be so incredible to see your own designs on others. Those Marie Claire peeps love you!
K-Line says
PS: I should mention that while most jewels are tiny in the scheme of a big photo – that necklace really does seem to be holding its own! 🙂 (And I just got “believe!” Ha. It’s the exclamation mark that makes it.
WendyB says
K-Line, since I now personally send the pieces to magazines for shoots, I can follow up with the editors and sometimes find out before the feature runs. Usually there are hints before the editorial is absolutely final — like if they’re asking for more information about the materials/price — though you can’t count on anything until the pages ship. (BTW, a store used to send pieces out for me and I never knew where stuff was going, couldn’t follow up, plus the store at least once stole my credit, thank you very much.) The kind of picture I hope for most is always a big product shot because it’s hard to see jewelry on a model. I was lucky with this Alexa photo. I have a credit in Oprah’s magazine this month also (I’ll scan the picture) but I couldn’t tell what piece was in the shot myself at first. Still very happy for the credit but as you say, jewelry is small.
Christine says
Congrats from the Tina Tang crew on an AMAZING placement in Marie Claire!

Another reason to hate insanely popular, cool, stylish, thin and beautiful Ms. Chung: she is wearing my favourite WendyB necklace.
