You people! What do you want from me? A new blog post? Well, I’m working on a big post for next week; trying to finish up a guest post for Shrimpton Couture; worrying about the guest posts I promised Sandra and La Belette Rouge ages ago; testing out new functionality for the blog; and making some new jewelry whenever I manage to tear myself away from the computer. Plus I’m doing all this while in a permanent peach-sangria haze. You try that! It’s difficult.
While I don’t have the time and energy to do a proper WendyB post here at this very second, I have been keeping up the posts on my Francis blog* because there’s been so much happening at ye olde Christian Francis Roth studio. Check out all the awesome peeps who have been visiting us there (and joining us for post-visit peach sangria).
Meanwhile, if you’re not up-to-date on the super-viral Francis subway map dress, you can catch up on that here. I finally got a subway map dress for myself (the last one in the studio, thank you very much, though it was a couple of sizes too big) and Jean the amazing seamstress took this picture as she was altering it.

My hands are awkwardly placed to avoid pins.
Even the fashion police couldn’t hate on this fun dress (you know what I normally think of self-proclaimed fashion police) but feel free to go over there anyway and leave a comment telling them how much you love this dress. If you want to be my subway map twin, act fast. Nordstrom has the dress reduced to $186.90 but only size 12 is left. At Bloomie’s, the dress is still at $262.50, but at least they have sizes 6 and 8 in addition to 12. I’d recommend going down a size from what you usually wear. Of course, if you’re in New York, it doesn’t matter what size you get because Jean will take care of your alterations needs. I have to brag about Jean for a moment. She’s featured in InStyle’s new Makeover issue and I will be scanning that in here eventually, but since it might take me a while, run out and buy the magazine so you can admire her work.
*All good things must come to an end. As I reported here, I stopped writing the Francis blog after six months. Later on, it was deleted, so I took out all the dead links in this post.
I want Jean to open an outpost in TO.
Yay! Now I know who to call when I get lost 🙂
P.S. Anyone who hates on that dress sucks royally-huge ass.
Oh my anti-spam word is CADBURY! And I’m eating a Cadbury Fruit & Nut bar right now!
Anyway, I was wondering why you weren’t updating =D I love the dress. My mouse pad is the Tube!
YAAAAAY!!!!!!!
You’re chipping away at my resolve! I still ♥ that dress…even though I think it’s probably too young for me.
that dress is so fun!
DP, at first I worried the dress was too young for me — and of course it’s not my usual look — but then I realized a few things. I am (and you are too, through me) a friend of the designer, which means we can and should wear any of his pieces that we fucking want to. And if you go out with that attitude, you’ll always look great. That “fuck you” attitude, I mean. Also, it can be worn over leggings or skinny jeans, if you’re worried about length. Finally — Bloomie’s and Nordstrom accept returns, so why not try it out? It’s a famous dress, you need it!
Cute dress. Does it come in a version featuring the bus routes of Los Angeles? I’d buy that one for the memories.
This is such a fun dress for summer! Glad you could get it altered to fit… The print is awesome.
Good stuff, if only every train had a woman wearing CFR… I’d never get lost. Unless I was distracted and missed my stop.
And so now all Miss J can think about is that here’s a dress that MIGHT actually fit her and of course, peach sangria.
Miss J feels compelled to use her awesome anti-spam word in a sentence or two: WendyB is a wicked, wicked temptress who looks wicked-good in her new subway amp dress.
You look amazing as usual. I love this dress!
I’d probably need to wear it over a tank or tee (can’t go braless) but if that won’t make Francis cringe, then I’ll give it a try!
DP, wear it however you want! Francis isn’t one of those snotty labels where there are all kinds of rules about how to wear it. (It does annoy me that Ossie Clark was all like, “No underwear under my clothes.” Thanks, I’ll make that decision for myself, dead guy.) Try the dress however you like and see what works for you! I’ll be showing pictures of some of my pieces where I’ve changed the neckline or done even more radical alterations. Christian is intrigued by it, not bothered!
Please clone the lovely Joan and send to London ASAP.
Love the dress on you! Do you think Christian would ever do a (perhaps 1960s-era) London Underground version? 😉
I mean, Jean. Damn.
I really want one of those dresses but I know the chances of snagging one is slim. You look smashing though. But peach sangria is a nice reprieve when you’re overworked. Enjoy it.
The subway dress looks just stunning on you my dear, hope you are finding some r&r time for yourself too!!
Isn’t nice to wear a new color pallet? It makes your skin so creamy looking….though I think your blessed to have beautiful skin anyway 😉
Now I have to go tell my 2 cents worth to some fashion police….
I love the subway map dress, but I’d be afraid that creepy guys in NYC would come up to me, poke me in my tit and be like, “How do I get here?”
You look great in the dress!
Hope your overworked moment goes quite soon! Good luck with it all! xxxxx
You’ve got the summer bizzays too!
I’m banned from sangria..the last two times I drank it, I spent two days barfing.
That is four days total of barf all for one hour of delicious fruity wine goodness.
Love that dress… but would be afraid of tourists swarming me in the city and trying to find out how to get to 42nd Street! Regardless, you look lovely!
xoxox,
CC
Looks fab! And my you are running ragged. I’m itching for peach sangria!
Finally seen the dress you have been tweeting about! I want a London Tube version 🙂
That dress is AMAZING! I need one for when I move to NYC…I’ll never get lost again haha.
People steal your ENTIRE POSTS? That is so creepy, I’m sorry! GOSH. The internet is so wonderful but so scary too, right? Sometimes I forget how many people are reading, seeing, stealing…le sigh.
XOXO!!!
You look wonderful in the dress, Wendy!
You are the busiest of bees, WendyB. Don’t forget to sleep!
Envy all over my face.
Did you see the Subway Bangle too? I wanted that too LOL

of course you would be in my top jewelers list! Your pieces are amazing!
I love that dress so much…it looks great on you!
you sound busy!
I absolutely love that dress- and I’m a 10 so its close in size…alas by the time I pay for shipping to Canada and customs tax, it will be back to it’s original price and it will also be winter…must make something comparable…
Thank you for the links, Wendy! Enjoy your evening.
That dress is ADORABLE! I want it immediatley if not sooner. Sadly, I’m pretty sure it would accentuate my “sausage-like” features. Damn it.
I love that you actually wear stuff like that! Totally not my style, but I love it none the less.
darling i know what it feels like to be overworked, hope you get some rest sweetheart. I think that subway print dress is so much fun!
kisses
