My Best Dressed at the Golden Globes: Melissa McCarthy

January 11, 2015 by WendyB

It was a close race this year, but my highly coveted Best Dressed/Wear What You Want combo award for this year’s Golden Globes goes to … Melissa McCarthy, in a menswear-influenced ensemble that she pulled together from her own closet.

Second place goes to Emma Stone, who wore a Lanvin jumpsuit adorned with one of my favorite accessories: a butt bow.

I would be more likely to wear Emma’s outfit, but, as I explained last year when giving my award to another Emma in pants, the prestigious Best Dressed/Wear What You Want combo award isn’t just about my personal preferences and/or looking pretty. Major points go to anyone who is controversial and gets people talking. Following those rules, I didn’t give in to Emma Stone’s blatant attempt to woo me with her butt bow. Sorry, Emma! It’s all about Melissa’s DIY!

I totally agree, mostly because you’ve influenced me over the year to find endless numbers of red or silver strapless gowns BORING. Turns out if it was mens wear-ish, I loved it, like Lorde’s outfit. I did like Claire Dane’s dress though. Melissa McCartney looked fantastic and reminded me of when Sharon Stone wore GAP to the Oscars.

Melissa has never looked better. I guess Emma needed something big to balance out her EYES. 😉
