I’ve got Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” stuck in my head because of the single earrings I’ve added to my WENDYB by Wendy Brandes diffusion line.
The single earrings I wore in the 1980s have been on my mind this year. I loved that look so much.
It annoyed me when I had to buy a pair of earrings back then; I wanted to buy just one of everything.
For a long time, I’ve thought about adding single-earring options to my diffusion line and I finally got motivated after I lost my treasured single, neon, guitar-pick earring from the early ’80s at a Madonna concert this September.
I figured single earrings would be a good way of memorializing that beloved piece.
My first offerings are 5-millimeter single stud earrings: a sterling-silver hashtag and an “at sign,” both made in New York City.
Of course, you don’t have to limit yourself to one earring — you’re welcome to purchase two of either style and wear them as a pair.
You know my personal style philosophy is “Wear What You Want.” I don’t judge. Wear one, wear two, wear five if you have enough holes for them. If hashtags and “at signs” aren’t your thing, holla at me at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com and I’ll make you any letter, number or punctuation earring as a single or a set. It’s up to you! I’ll also make them in yellow, white and rose gold, in addition to the silver shown on my website.

Love the snaps of you from the 80s. I am watching the Sopranos again and I think about you growing up in New Jersey and wanting to move.

I remember buying a pair of earrings with a friend (in the 1980s) so we could each have one and be financially savvy as well. Love your single choices here.

I was wondering why I never did that and then remembered I always wanted to look “different” — so I couldn’t have anyone sharing my earring, I guess.
Not that I looked so damn different, of course!

Aww! I love this! If I wear earrings, I typically only wear one. I have many single earrings, my favorite is a lizard shaped one.

Cool! I love hearing that.

Love the new earrings! I often wear mis-matched earrings and many of them (5 piercings in my ears) so yours are going to be purchased in the next few months!! Yay!

I’m so psyched that people are still (or newly) into this look. Always, always loved it so much.

love this – I used to custom make earrings for such a cool 70 something year old woman who found me at a farmer’s market one day.. she Only requested single earrings and always had her earrings custom made because she always wore only one dangle… studs on the other ear, but only one dangle… and usually in a bright gold – 14k or higher… of course this is back when I could still afford to create with gold. She herself owned a socks and incense store in trenton, nj… this is going back 5 years.. she was so ahead of today’s resurgance of this trend! She rocked this look with a cropped haircut as well. 🙂

Aww, dear cool ’80’s you!!! As fellow ’80’s girl, I have long been a fan of asymmetry, and I love that you are doing this.

Your hairdo will sure show off earrings like this 🙂

These are great! And I’m a huge fan of one earring — but then again, I grew up in the 80’s and that was normal to me! I’m still really sad that you lost the guitar pick 🙁

Me toooooooo. That was pretty tragic.
