A High Heel That’s as Comfortable as a Sneaker, Guaranteed

October 4, 2012 by WendyB

The “Big City Pump Silhouette Sneaker” by Be&D is highlarious.

$128 at Neiman Marcus. Click to purchase.

You’d definitely get the best of both worlds with that one.

I’m normally a big fan of trompe l’oeil fashion, but I prefer real heel height, so I’ve been wearing the hell out of my Thelma wedge sneakers by Ash Shoes. I wore them to, from and during a trip to Chicago last week. Right before I took this picture there, a random dude told me, “I like your high-heel Converse.” Ha! I did pick this Ash style for its Converse-like white toe.

What Wendy Wore
Jacket: Stacy Lomman Fall 2011 satin bomber (acquired 2012)
T-shirt: MaxMara (pre-2005)
Jeans: Acne
Shoes: Ash Shoes (2012)
Purse lurking behind me on the ground: Prada (2008)

I just got that satin bomber jacket from gorgeous blogger/designer/neighbor/constant companion Stacy Lomman. Every so often, I walk the block and a half to her place and shop the runway samples in her closet. I don’t know how I missed this Fall 2011 jacket until now.  People were asking me about it everywhere I went in Chicago. It’s nice and warm too.

If you want a stylish jacket, you can holla at Stacy on Twitter here. You can find Ash sneakers at Bergdorf Goodman, among other places. But if you want to read the well-researched story on wedge sneakers that I did for the Huffington Post, you are shit out of luck because they’re having some kind of technical problem there. I hope they fix it soon, because I spent a lot of time on that one!

It’s a long block and a half (haha), but I know my stairs are the real issue! I LOVE this jacket on you!! You forgot to write about the construction guy who said he liked your sneakers — he was so tickled, I thought it was awesome.

Yeah, that was the high-heel Converse remark! I mentioned it!

That jacket is great with the shoes! Love the asymmetrical neckline of your top as well.

I need to get a picture just of the top because it is pretty cool!

Starring those sneakers… you could do it! I’d love, too. You rock in sporty gear;)

That jacket is the coolest. I love the structured shoulders on the bomber-style.

I wanted a pair of high heel sneakers last week when I dressed in baggy, low-riding jeans and boxers to discuss hip-hop style in my fashion theory class. But I couldn’t get a pair in time, so Converse high-tops it was. Coveting a pair of Isabel Marant ones!

And now I know why some hip-hoppers swagger with one hand in their front pocket: they’re holding up their jeans (or at least I was).

Ha ha! I want pix of your look. (And possibly another pair of wedge sneaks for myself.)
