I think this vintage gown would be a fabulous wedding dress.
It is eye-catching AND it has an interesting story — my two requirements for any special-occasion apparel. First of all, the dress is by Mr. Blackwell. Yep, the guy who does the annoying, rhymed “Worst Dressed List” used to be a designer. In addition, the seller reports that the dress was a custom gown created by Mr. Blackwell for an attendee at John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Ball in 1961 and only worn that once! (The fact that there’s no documentation to prove this doesn’t detract in any way from the awesomeness of the story.) The dress comes with matching gloves and evening bag. The armholes are cut so they won’t gape while the wearer is dancing.
The auction ends tonight. One of you (petite) Bridezillas needs to move fast. Think of how pretty you’ll look dancing to “Sunrise, Sunset” with your daddy while wearing a one-of-a-kind Mr. Blackwell! Everyone will be verklempt.

Wow! That’s pretty! And such a deal. I wonder what it will get bid up to?

Isn’t it just gorgeous! I want to bid on it, though looking at the measurements it will only fit my right arm.

Yes, I agree a very stunning gown!
Fashion Addict says
It’s a great gown, but I don’t think I’d walk down the aisle with this one on. (Not that I’m thinking about getting married.) but I still love the gown!
jdbsusanna says
Sehr hübsch! Very pretty. Maybe Mr. Blackwell should have stuck with designing!
KD says
Egads! What a great deal! *groan because that sounds like it came from an infomercial*

Too late for me, but I would have loved this one. Long gloves, shiny shoes, aw yeah.

You’re too late Wendy! I already have both my dresses for my wedding. Good luck to all you other bridezillas out there placing your bids!
Miss Janey says
That is gorgeous and the history is even better.
About 15 years ago, Miss J attended a bar mitzvah where Mr. B was also a guest. His tux was gorgeous and fit perfectly. He was quite dapper.
WendyB says
Miss J, I bet there were no gaping armholes while he was doing the hora!
Deja Pseu says
That dress really is lovely! So much more sophisticated than the meregnues so many brides end up in.
