Shout out to Gangsta Boo, my gorgeous rapper friend, for reminding me that seven years ago today, I was her entourage as she visited The Fader magazine office, followed by the Shade 45 music station.
This might have been the visit where the Shade 45 peeps assumed I was in the music business and asked, “So what do you do for Boo?” and I — at a loss as to how to explain my presence — awkwardly said, “I’m her jeweler?” And then they all moved away from me on the bench, to quote Arlo Guthrie, and I vowed never to speak again even if spoken to. Though maybe that exchange happened another time, considering I thought 2013 was the year we met actor Billy Bob Thornton. That turned out to be in April 2014. I was wearing the same jacket, and confusion about dates is a slow-fashion hazard.
Anyway, I like the way Boo conscientiously noted all the outfit details in this photo she took of me hustling to catch us a cab in 2013. Pre-Uber days!
I still have everything I’m wearing in the 2013 and 2014 photos except the jeans. If those are black jeans, as I suspect, I gave them away. If they’re actually very dark blue jeans, I turned them into shorts. Who else finds it strange to look at photos from the pre-COVID-19 life, even though that life only ended last month? It’s hard to believe that we just WENT OUT like that. Like it was no big deal!

Pluckyojeweler indeed! Why she’s a performing artist!
Are we all going to be agoraphobic?
WendyB says
Agoraphobia is a real concern these days!
