Follow my business Instagram, Wendy Brandes Jewelry, because I’ll be giving away some sterling-silver statement rings via IG stories!
I started doing this last week with the remnants of my silver collection. I figured people need some cheering up during the coronavirus quarantine, and if somehow my jewelry business — and the jewelry industry in general — survives this catastrophe, I’m not going to want to fuss with the limited number of silver styles I have left after discontinuing the silver line in 2018. You can find out why it didn’t make financial sense to make silver jewelry in the U.S. from this video.
My first gift deliveries have already landed! I hope Andrew …
… and Nicolette …
… have fun with their bad-ass NYC rings. Please note that all my advice about not wearing rings around the house and taking rings off to wash your hands still applies! But you can try your new rings on, admire them, take pictures of them, and tag me in the pictures. I’ve definitely got a few more ring sets hanging around, so don’t forget to give me that follow here, and keep an eye out. Whoever responds to a giveaway quickest — and gives me a reason why they’ll treasure the rings — gets ’em.
Just don’t get your hopes up for any giveaways of gold and platinum jewelry. As I long ago told a billionaire’s wife after she asked me for a deep discount, I’ll wear my intricate, museum-worthy jewelry to my grave rather than give it away to someone who doesn’t value it. True story! Look, I’m in the luxury-goods business, and I appreciate people with big budgets that enable me to create one-of-a-kind art with precious metals and gems. But we’ve got to exponentially raise taxes on the mega-billionaires. I’ve only met a handful of them in passing but I quickly learned that they will fight anyone to the death over a dollar. And if they are spending big with you, the abuse will make you feel like you’re selling your soul. I did a little business with a billionaire’s girlfriend once and dealing with her made me hate myself, and that was before she screwed me over. I figure any genuine philanthropists among the ultra-rich won’t mind paying their fair share of taxes for the greater good. And if they do mind? Then they’re not so charitable after all, and I’m happy to disabuse them of their fantasy of generosity.
If you haven’t seen the rice-grain video illustrating what billions look like, here it is.
And this is what Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world, did to “help” his employees during the pandemic. Shameless as always.

I adore your work… and psst… you don’t really need to find the “m” ring… OG would work on its own. 😀

True! I just need to find a real O.G. who wants some rings 😉
