I love an excuse for a themed outfit. Accordingly, on many 4th of July holidays, I’ve worn the Castelbajac sailor outfit I got in 2010.
This year, I don’t feel costume-y. Instead, I’ve acknowledged the day by texting the word RESIST to 50409 and using Resistbot to tell Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney and New York senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand what they need to do to fight the fascist in the White House. If you’re feeling upset about what’s going on in this country but you keep thinking, “I don’t know where to begin” — Resistbot is your first step. It works on Twitter and Facebook Messenger as well as by text and it’s available 24/7, nationwide. Once you’re set up the first time, it will take you approximately two minutes to reach out to your elected officials who, by the way, work for YOU. If you need help with Resistbot from a technical standpoint or you’d like assistance in composing your first message, ask me in the comments here. You have no excuses now!
And, now that I think of it, I should have specified that I don’t feel “red, white, and blue” costume-y, because there’s something else costume-y that I’d like to be wearing. I was ready to break down and buy this Ashish top because I’ve been obsessed with Ashish‘s signature sequins for years and because this is so me. But it’s sold out in my size.
If you can wear an extra-small, click the photo to buy the Witch top from Matches, and send me your photo to make me jealous!
