I had such a good response to last Friday’s talk at the Gemological Institute of America Career Fair that I decided to redo it on video for people who couldn’t attend the event in person. Whether you’re a bench jewelry or a would-be designer, I’ve got recommendations for you. There are also some thoughts that apply to any kind of career: For instance, don’t be shy about following up on casual-sounding conversations. Another point I make is that while it’s great to be born into a well-connected family — really great, to be honest — that’s no guarantee of long-term success.
I made a similar point about “having it made” job-wise in yesterday’s video, in which I discussed the meaning of industry awards.
Isn’t my hair looking extra-fabulous in both of the new videos? That’s thanks to last week’s haircut by my longtime hair guru, Keith Carpenter. You can catch up on my hair inspiration and adventures with Keith through the video I posted just a day before I saw him.
I should add a coda to that video to include the latest variation on my mullet because I love it so much.
Thanks for making me feel like a rock star, Keith!
