While I was at the gym yesterday, Steve Martin’s 1978 novelty hit, “King Tut,” popped up on my iPod. I had to listen to it three or four times. I love that song! Then I raced home to look up the original Saturday Night Live performance. Click the screen cap below to view it.

I prefer the Saturday Night Live version with the full costume, but the concert performance on YouTube does have the advantage of coming with the usual stupid YouTube comments, one of which was, “I know it’s for fun, but there’s nothing funny about making fun of King Tut.” The response from another commenter made my day:

Hi W, off topic but I wonder if you saw the the NY Times left a page blank to protest Egypt jailing Australian journalist 7 years yes 7 for allegedly being part of a banned Moslem brotherhood (he isn’t). Is all over the papers here. I guess your Mr B is following it. We are all up in arms here and cannot believe it. Devastating. The nation just wants justice for him and his 2 colleagues. x
