Ma Nah Ma Nah

Since Sunday, I’ve had Muppets on the brain. “Ma nah ma nah,” I say in a friendly way to my husband when he comes home from work. “Doo doo doo doo doo,” I yell when he stands in front of the TV.

All the big stars used to do The Muppet Show. Having reviewed many clips on YouTube, I’m not convinced this show was ever meant for children. Here is Debbie Harry, wearing what can only be described as a purple “outfit,” singing her song about a male hoor with a bunch of Muppets.

Here’s Debbie, now in orange, singing her song about stalking:

Here she is, barely dressed, singing a sweet interspecies duet with Kermit.

Don’t you just dig songs about rainbows? I do! Debbie and I have so much in common. We should hang out! C’mon, peeps, let’s go stand in front of Debbie’s house for a few hours. One way or another, I’m gonna get her! I’ll get her! I’ll get her get her get her get her! Dang, she’s called the police. You guys, RUN!!! I’ll handle this. “But, Officer, she said I could call her, call her anytime!”

  1. WOW! No wonder we liked the muppets so much! We were watching something we shouldn’t have been.

    I love your blog Wendy. I have a small list that I go through in the morning and I save yours for last. Of course, that means I have a song from the 80’s or a disturbing image from historical monarchies stuck in my head the rest of the day, but at least you update regularly!! Keep up the good work.     Hubby is taking me to a Johnny Mathis show next week(an early birthday gift).I love the Rainbow connection song.Not sure what to wear though.Its pobably going to be full of older people but its at the Fox theatre which is a dress up type of place,any ideas?

  5. I love the Muppets too! I forgot how much until I watched the Muppet Movie a few weeks ago with my two year old niece. It’s a strange, funny compendium of 20th Century celebrities and entertainment genres. And you’re right, a lot of the humor went right over my niece’s head. She knows a frog says ribbet, though : )

  10. @ VB, I wish I could manage the blogroll a little better…I’m scared to try anything to change the template though because I’m likely to erase everything!

  11. My fave is the “John Denver: Christmas with the Muppets” – my family still plays the album every Xmas. Love the Muppets!

    As for worrying about the blog template, save a copy before tinkering, then you can tinker away safe in the knowledge you can always revert if something goes wonkers.

  18. OH MAN, thanks for this! My little brother and I were just listening to the Muppet Show album last time I visited him (I’m still pissed mom gave it to him instead of me.) TV has been all downhill ever since, I swear…
