Quick! Run to the newsstand and buy the December issue of Cosmopolitan magazine — the one with Miley Cyrus looking fabulous on the cover.
My emoji earrings are mentioned under “Emoji Mania” on the “What We’re Into This Month” page.
Here’s a closer look.
And here’s something interesting: Of the two earrings shown, only the okay sign is based on a real emoji.
The other earring that Cosmo shows is my “shaka” or “hang loose” emoji-inspired earring.
I’ve been doing lots of earring designs that I feel should be emojis (including the middle finger and Vulcan salute) and I’m psyched that the Cosmo peeps thought the shaka fit in so well. Makes me feel like I’m doing a good job! To celebrate, I’ll reveal another new emoji-inspired earring: the crossed fingers.
In some countries, people say they will “hold thumbs” for luck, but in the U.S., it’s “cross your fingers.” We also cross our fingers when telling a lie. So you can wear this earring to improve your luck or get away with a fib. I won’t judge. After all, some little lies are better than the truth, right, Jim Carrey?
I’ve got another emoji-inspired earring coming up very soon … possibly later tonight.
Until then, here are some other mentions I’ve gotten online this past week. Thanks for the love, y’all!
- ABC News featured my Memento Mori skull ring in “Ghoulish Jewelry for Grand Halloween Parties” (picked up from JustLuxe.com).
- Gorgeous Jennifer Heebner of JCK magazine included my 666 necklace in “Happy Halloween 2013: 5 Spooky Cool Jewels.”
- Retro Chick had my silver Memento Mori skull earrings (previously seen in British Vogue) in her post titled “Accessorize, Halloween Style.”
- Stunning Erika Winters selected my fire opal Edburga poison ring for inclusion in her PriceScope story, “6 Striking Jewels in Orange and Black for All Hallows’ Eve 2013.”
- Breathtaking Cheryl Kremkow included my newest piece — not yet properly introduced on the blog! — in her blog about “The Thirteen Best Skull Jewels.”
- Buzzfeed put my silver ax earrings in its list of “20 Halloween-Inspired Pieces Worth Keeping Long After You’re Done Trick-or-Treating.”
Finally, getting back to Cosmo’s cover girl, Miley Cyrus, the Naughty but Nice Rob blog quoted me in a story on Miley’s appearance at Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars. For the record, I confirmed reports that Miley was on her best behavior: “She looked gorgeous and sophisticated. There was definitely no drama coming from her.” I had no idea till reading the Naughty but Nice post that after the event, Miley went to the Beatrice Inn — that’s where Stacy Lomman and I went after FGI’s cocktail hour! Miley and I are soooo on the same wavelength!

Excellent, congrats on the mention!
I can’t believe Miley followed us to Beatrice. 😉
