The Leo period of the astrological calendar begins today. You really don’t have to be a Leo to wear my lion-themed jewelry — the pieces weren’t inspired by astrology — but if you ARE a Leo, they’re even more compelling, no?
My Eleanor necklace was inspired by Eleanor of Aquitaine, one of the most powerful women in Europe in the Middle Ages. It’s made with 18K yellow gold and onyx.
Eleanor married England’s Henry II, the son of the jewelry-inspiring Empress Matilda, who was another enormously powerful woman. No one married for love in the 12th century, but I like to think it wasn’t entirely coincidental that the woman who was most politically advantageous for Henry to marry just so happened to be as tough as his mother.
Then, of course, there is this month’s Jewel of the Month: my Lion and Hunter “Maneater” ring. Click the photo below for more photos of the finished ring, pictures of the ring in progress and information on the process and my Maneater collection.
And, for fun, click here to see a picture I took while on safari of a lion showing off his fabulous hair.
