Just days after I posted about how my latest manicure was inspired by the 13th-century Gothic chapel Saint-Chapelle in Paris, street-style photographer Bill Cunningham of The New York Times says,
“The gothic and medieval eras are casting their spells over fashion. Today’s look of black leggings and abbreviated coats suggests men in the 1400s.”
Cunningham’s “On the Street” feature in today’s New York Times even includes an image of the famous unicorn tapestry at the Cloisters, which was among the images I emailed to celebrity manicurist Tracylee Percival as inspiration for her nail art.
Some of those black-legging wearing ladies need to wear my medieval-inspired jewelry. Maybe my chunky Juana skull ring …
… or my Matilda sword earrings.
Here’s Bill explaining why he sees 14th-century style on the streets of New York.

- More Monday: Gothic nail art.
- Wednesday: Shoutouts to bloggers who wrote about me.
- Thursday: I’m suddenly in love with Jessica Biel.
- Saturday: I relate to Britney Spears’s posing problem.

We actually decided that already! 🙂
Unless I think of something else, of course.

Fascinating! I love this kind of analysis, and how you are always right in the thick of things!

That ring is my favourite piece of yours. Must start saving up for it once my separation is finalized. Would be a great gift to myself!
