We took the Eurostar to Paris, in the company of five fiendishly loud children. Their parents seemed unperturbed by the constant uproar. I didn’t share their apathy, and spent the whole time wishing gorgeous blogger Kate were there to get the situation under control. I noticed yesterday that she doesn’t brook any nonsense from chair kickers and toy hurlers. I can’t imagine what she would make of “Simon Says” players.
We made up for it with a lovely dinner with our friend Tom at Les Ombres at the top of the Musee du Quai Branly, which has a magnificent view of the Eiffel Tower. Thanks for picking such a great place, Tom!

As a bonus, my passive-aggressive tweets about the naughty children attracted the attention of our friend Isabelle, the queen of candy, who just so happened to be in Paris too. We met up with her for drinks at La Palette.

I was at hubby’s reunion yesterday and one of his friend’s kids got so rowdy (jumping around, ransacking a friend’s purse, fiddled with her camera) I felt like spanking the girl upside down. That 4 year old went to the extent of snapping a photo of me and I quickly made face in the pose, and she said I was being RUDE. Mom was just watching from across the table like it was the most natural thing her kid could ever be saying to a stranger. Talk about parental control, or precisely the lack of it!

It’s funny, not in the ha-ha way but in the ironic way that I haven’t had any desire to take a trip to Paris until I read this post. Maybe it’s idea of fabulous food with a view of the Tour d’Eiffel or maybe seeing you smirking, not smiling in front of les fleurs, made me remember all those charming shops particularly the magnificent flower shops…À la recherche du temps perdu

so crazy that we have been traveling through the same cities and doing some of hte same things (though my experiences are much different i’m sure). we did the eiffel tower at night but it involved a picnic blanket and cheap champagne haha

Annoying about your loud and obnoxious traveling companions. I once broke my silence to ask a woman whose children were running all over a hospital cafeteria (on the windowsills) if she could keep them quieter or at least not running next to where people were eating, and she replied “Oh, do you find that stressful? Some people think it’s cute.” It amazes me how oblivious some parents are!
