In the morning, MrB and I went to the V&A to see an exhibition on Baroque style. I was very inspired. It’s strange: I like clean, modern shapes, but I also like insane amounts of detail, particularly symbolic detail. I’m all about secret messages. I guess the Matilda necklace is the most baroque of all my designs, even though the engraving isn’t symbolic of anything particular. If I had to do it all over again, I’d put more of a message into the engraving.
On the other hand, I’m happy for gorgeous clients to imbue their pieces with their own personal meaning.
We also checked out the amazing jewelry (or “jewellery,” as they write in England) gallery. I was dying over the medieval and Renaissance pieces. As for the modern pieces — well, they’ll have to put a few in storage to make room for my work. I wouldn’t want my jewelry to feel crowded.
After the V&A, I sent MrB on his merry way and went to Harvey Nicks for lunch and several pitchers of Pimm’s with four gorgeous bloggers: Sharon Rose, Samantha, Kate and Liz. I think we might have outdone Patsy and Edina because we were there for FIVE HOURS. And I could have spent five more hours with them! They were all so delightful. Thank you, Sharon, for the crazy zippered skirt. I think I can wedge myself into it! Samantha, I can’t wait to see a photo of you in your Francis undone bow tie dress. Any time you need me to make a personal delivery, I’m happy to oblige. Kate, I’m obsessed with the bow you tied with the belt on my denim dress! I’m still taking pictures of it. And I regret that you didn’t spank those bad children. Liz, you were a little quiet down there at the end of the table. I think that meant you were considering which Ossie Clark dress you’d tempt me with next.
I had the ladies try on all my rings and do the special blogger face-touching pose in honor of gorgeous blogger Sister Wolf.
Kate the Great retied the bow on my denim dress. It made a world of difference. I’m not sure you can tell from the photo how much more glamorous it is. Believe!
I also had to take a photo of Kate’s fabulous orange wedge heels.
So, same time next year, right, ladies? I think we agreed on that. Of course, with all that Pimm’s, I might have agreed to practically anything!
UPDATED TO ADD: Check out the reports from Kate and Liz!
UPDATED AGAIN TO ADD: Sharon has bravely fought off the flu to write her report here, and Samantha has chimed in too!

Looks like a blast! Everyone looks fabulous and I LOVE those orange wedges. The shoes, not the fruit.

Oh I’m always quiet when I first meet people…especially such fabulous ladies. Just taking it all in, taking it all in – and I could probably have done with an ear trumpet as well 😉
Definitely same time next year.
And don’t forget, that photo proves that we’re now engaged!
WendyB says
Liz, I think the ear trumpet is going to be the next hot accessory. Marc Jacobs is going to be splashing “LV” all over those any day now. Re our getting married, it reminds me of the time that I surveyed the extreme messiness of my apartment and said to MrB (sexist-style), “I could really use a wife.” And he said, “Me too.” It was one of the three funniest things he ever said. That’s what I tell him. Of course, one of the things he “said,” I can’t actually remember and the other was him falling out of a cab in Milan, which wasn’t really something that he “said” at all. Oh well!

HI, GIRLS! This almost makes up for how bitter I am about not being there. Thanks for taking the time to annoy me! I feel like you are all my very own children now!

Unfortunately we are greviously impoverished and would hate to insult you with a bad meal. Perhaps we could meet you for a drink in Paris?
Make Do Style says
Pucker, truly a pucker day out! I have to say a 5 hour lunch is unheard of …and yes it could have gone on for another 5! Glad the bow tying made a difference. The photo shoot of the most gorgeous rings is a winner xxx

I would love to have been there. Instead I had to spend the day with distant relatives and their kids watching them bash the crap out of a pinata and pretending I wasn’t dying to have a go. I LOVE Harvey Nicks cafe. And Kate’s shoes…
