Crown jewels? How could I not love this commercial?
The crown jewels would probably be a bargain compared to Elizabeth Taylor’s jewels, which brought in a record-setting $115 million at auction. (When Taylor died in March, I wrote about her jewelry on the Huffington Post. You can revisit that story by clicking here.) Most of the jewelery sold for well above the estimates. The heart-shaped Taj Mahal Diamond, for instance, had a pre-auction estimate of $300,000 to $500,000, but sold for $8.8 million.
One of y’all better get my Chicken-in-Egg locket for $16,000 while you can. After an insanely glamorous actress buys it, it’s going to be worth millions! Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Hope Mr B bought you a lovely trinket from Miss Taylor’s swag.
Meanwhile Mr FF didn’t so I’d better go and revisit her Love Affair with Jewels book and re-live the magic via the pages x

Wendy,
I think Christies lowballed the estimates for the jewels. Based on the price of gold, the provenance of the stone beyond the Butron-Taylor story, and the fact it was also styled by Cartier, the Taj Mahal necklace was worth far more than their estimate. C’mon- estimating the Edith Head necklace for $1,500- $2000? The gold’s worth more than that!

Agree.

So sad that I can’t jump on the $16,000…I must only dream of it!!!
That's Not My Age says
Oh I’d love some Hollywood jewels – yours or Liz’s I’m not fussy! Hoping that Mr That’s Not My Age has secretly acquired some for me.

Yes, early Wendy Brandes collectors have an excellent investment outlook.

I’d sell my condo for that Chicken-in-Egg necklace.
