Last week, I showed you the Louis Vuitton bag that MrB got me for our anniversary. Henry the dog helped me with the photo.
The Louis Vuitton site has a picture of the bag’s other color scheme.
I got my bag at the Vuitton store in Paris. We asked a saleswoman about it after seeing the red version in a display case. I didn’t realize there was a blue option until the saleswoman asked which color I wanted. She brought out both. I was pretty sure I wanted the red, but dutifully inspected the blue. I put it on my shoulder and went over to a mirror. The saleswoman gasped. “Non!” she said. “You must see like this!” She took the bag from me, put it on her own shoulder and pranced back and forth in a model-y way so I could view it objectively. I had a slight urge to laugh, yet found the experience weirdly helpful. I told MrB that from now on, I wanted to do all my shopping this way. Trying things on is so tedious, non? Someone else should do it for us — especially when it comes to bathing suits. Who’s with me?
Speaking of Henry the dog, his defective paw has flared up again. Some of you might recall that he had an operation on it in 2008. The operation was successful — it drastically cut down the number of times his paw gets infected. Infections only happen about once a year now, and this just so happens to be the annual occurrence. (During the rest of the year, he fakes a limp as needed to get out of walking when it’s too hot, too cold or too rainy.) He’s at the vet getting his foot lanced. If you’d like to leave him a humorous or weirdly emotional “get well” note in the comments, I’ll be sure to read it to him when he gets home.
UPDATED TO ADD: Here’s Henry back at home with a bandaged foot.

Oh Henry!

Sweet Henry
It’s time to relax and put your feet (foot) up. Let Wendy be your ottoman and fetch you treats.
: )
WendyB says
How would that be different from his normal day? 😀

Oh hell yes, body shopping double needed ova here, especially for swimsuits! Must be able to sashay! Give my love to Henry the Diva!

Dearest Henry,
I know you’re in pain, and I hope you feel better soon. But if you believe that every cloud has a silver lining, your poor aching paw does. I met your gorgeous red lipped mama on the Hampton Jitney years ago when you were new to her life. You were at the vet’s office and she was so worried and spent her time telling me about your paw, and speaking to your vet. And oh yeah, we also discussed jewelry, handbags and other important fashionable things.
So I have lived with tales of your hurting paw for years and wish I could wave a magic wand to make you feel better. But you’ll just have to settle for my words of warmth and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
Big fuzzy hugs to you!
WendyB says
Awww! He’s going to get all choked up!
Megan Mae says
I prefer to do all my own trying on. Having a fussy body means needing to feel my clothes before committing.
Dear Henry, Feel better little one. Take a load off your paws, and have a good nap. I wish you speedy healing so you can walk without pain and photobomb Wendy’s accessory photos to your heart’s content. And grace us with your adorableness. Bless your fluffy little head, MeganMae

When I saw, “The Bag I Didn’t Get” I immediately thought, “Oh no, non-buyer’s remorse!” Of course I should’ve known you would never let that happen. Red was certainly the right choice, prancing sales lady or no.
Dearest Henry,
I wish you a speedy recovery and as much pampering as is possible for a diminutive canine to receive. Just remember you’ll still be fabulous even with a bandage on your paw.
Kisses, Audi

Okay. You have to do an impression of your bag model during a break at IFBCon next week… on video… wearing a certain shirt! 😀
Henry, you cute little smushyface! You get well soon so you can resume your duties as your mommy’s little ottoman while wearing your precious widdle bows! Maybe Mommy can get you some bacon bows! Yeah! You’ll be the cutest fluff nugget ever! Eeeeeeee!
déjà pseu says
Dear Henry, hope your paw is much better soon and that your people are spoiling you with lots of treats and love.
Signed, your doggie friends,

P.S. – give them the heavy sigh and the sad eyes…works every time!

Poor poor Henry.
Kiss his sweet little face for me!

Body doubles would be greatly needed just so I can make sure my rear doesn’t look half as crazy as I think it does.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Sir Henry!

Poor Henry!
I hate trying things on now, I need an intern to try stuff on for me. Great idea!
Megan says
I was in Paris in June and I found most sales people to be extremely helpful and nice. Except for in YSL where I had a total “Pretty woman” moment. Big mistake. Big. Huge!
Get well soon Henry!
Suzanne aka Punk Glam Queen says
You made the right bag choice!
Tell Henry Fiona sends her doggie kisses to him, and we all send hugs to speed his recovery!

Dear Henry,
I am so sorry to hear that Mommy’s neglect has led to more paw problems. From now on, no fun for her until you are fixed! She should be making you home made dog treats, with Evian water to drink out of a crystal bowl (what, you’re still using steel??) and cuddling you all day. Tell her to snap to it!

I totally agree on the shopping. I need a personal mannequin to follow me when I shop and try stuff on for me!
Here’s a get-well haiku for Henry:
Henry of sore paw
All will be well again soon
Your bag posing rocks.
WendyB says
Ha ha! Henry loves poetry about himself.
Mary says
Poor Henry. Holly and Rosie send their poodle regards. Maybe you could let him use your fabulous bag as a get well treat?
Now, I do love the idea of not trying clothing etc on, which is why I shop online. I’ve got to the stage where entering a bricks and mortar shop change room gives me the sweats! As for swimsuits…..god no!
Madeleine Gallay says
Dear Henry,
I can lick it better and, uh, you could ride on my back.
I betcha can fit in mommy’s cool LV, have you chewed the handles?

Good to know Henry’s back home!! Tell him that his paw looks super cute in this bandag-y sock 🙂
JTwisdom says
Hi Wendy,
Your bag is so beautiful. I must admit when I try on bags I prance around to see how it looks on me. Funny the salesperson did it.
Wishing Henry a speedy recovery, tell him that he is such the cute one.
Rosie says
Feel better Henry! Make sure to ask Wendy for lots of dog treats to help you feel better, ok? ;P
PS: You are the most stylish dog I’ve seen in a while! That bandage is killer 🙂
stacy says
You know how I feel about that bag!!!! LOVE.
Poor Henry 🙁 I need to come over to give him kisses.
Susan Tiner says
How cute is that bandaged foot! I’m so glad Henry’s feeling better. Sending hugs.

In college, I worked at Nordstrom and I once had a lady ask me to try on a shirt that she was thinking about buying and model it for her. Problem was, she was a size large and I’m an XS and yes, she made me try on the size large shirt so I was absolutely swimming in it. Kind of weird but she still bought it! 🙂
LOL to Henry faking a limp to get out of walks! Good thing he’s not around my dog to teach her such tricks. When Savvy doesn’t want to go on a walk (which is all the time when it’s rainy) she will hide under her blanket and just sit real still like “if I don’t move, they won’t see me”
Kristin says
Hang in there Henry…Cupcakes always make me feel better! Of course, your Mom might not appreciate what they would do to your tummy. Ha!
joann, sidewalk chic says
I didn’t realize salespeople could double as models, too. What a (weirdly) cool way to see how companies perceive the use of their products…
Wishing Henry a speedy recovery! My mom’s dog Toby gets an infected paw occasionally, and he has to wear a cone thing around his neck so he can’t pick at it. Hope Henry’s flare-up goes away soon.
The Style Crone says
Of course Henry would have a fashionable bandage!
WendyB says
Not as great as the one he had after his operation. The nurses put a purple bandage on him, then cut heart shapes out of a red bandage and put those on top! I laughed out loud when I saw it!
Penny Dreadful Vintage says
Henry, that is the cutest bandage I have ever seen.
For Those About To Shop says
That is so funny that Henry is smart enough to fake a limp to get out of walking in bad weather. His masculinity is being compromised in that first picture with the bows but it’s incredibly cute 🙂
WendyB says
I tell him those are very manly bows!

Dear Henry:
Ruff. Ruff ruff ruff. RRRRRRUFFFF ruffff bark!
– Love and dog treats.

Dear Henry,
Get well soon! I hope you can walk soon so that you can embark upon your dream career–as WendyB’s Official Try-On Model! (Star bandages don’t count!)
Elizabeth says
I forgot to say–Happy Anniversary!
And what a lovely bag.
Lynn says
Hi Henry,
Love the bandage, though I think you should give leopard print a try. Speedy recovery!
