To me, the most interesting thing about tonight’s Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is designer Azzedine Alaia’s pisstacular reaction to being left out of the “Model as Muse” exhibit: after fitting seven models for dresses, he asked the ladies not to wear them. As a result, Alaia fans Naomi Campbell and Stephanie Seymour aren’t attending the par-tay.
Supposedly, models Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista aren’t attending either. What?! You can’t open an exhibit called “Model as Muse” without my beloved LindaE there. Call the whole thing off! On the other hand, maybe someone will need me to fill one of those empty seats. I’m a great seat-filler and I know exactly what dress to wear. I’m going to go wait by the phone.

Speaking of the party — and pissiness — I’m increasingly annoyed by the use of “A-Dubs” as a nickname for the gala’s hostess with the mostest, Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Is that supposed to be cute? Hip? Funny? Clever? Maybe it was amusing the first time someone used the name, but repetition has not made my heart grow fonder. “A-Dubs” needs to be banned.

Honestly, that’s absurd. Boycotting a party to support someone else’s gripe is stupid. Especially when the gripe is misplaced affront.
This year’s gala is not going as well as it should be. I heard so many other models aren’t attending. What’s the point of it anyway? The gala is all about the model! And Linda E and Naomi are two of the 5 or 6 supers! This show is going to be so dull.. A-Dubs will be pissed. LOL.
In all seriousness, WendyB, I hate all nicknames given to famous people. For example Madge (Madonna), Fergie (the duchess), Macca (Paul McCartney), etc, etc.
And in response to Clothes Horse: They aren’t attending in support of their friend and mentor Alaia.

Ya, why would models boycott an event for models? And for such a silly reason! There must be more to this. I did like the Vogue models issue. The photos of Natalia Vodianova as different iconic models were amazing. That Natalia looked different in each photo! Definitely not the typical Zoolander =P
