In a 2008 post about gladiator sandals, I wrote:
“I’ve loved this style since 1985, when I had a pair of flat white gladiators. I felt so chic when I wore them with my Guess ankle-zip jeans and oversize blouse! I’ve been searching for a photo that shows me wearing those shoes for a while now, but I’ve been unsuccessful.”
Well, look what I found! A photo with the ankle-zip jeans and the sandals. You can’t see my oversize top, but that’s because it’s under my beloved oversize denim jacket.

This is a huge improvement over the only other photo I’d found of the sandals, in which I wasn’t wearing them.

I’m not sure if I have any other photos that show the ankle-zip jeans. We didn’t make a point of taking head-to-toe outfit photos in the pre-fashion-blog days. We were working with a limited amount of film frames and just praying we’d wind up with a picture in which everyone’s eyes were open! Anyway, finding this photo is a triumph. Maybe I’ll find that picture of me with Roger Daltry next!
