Did you do your homework and watch yesterday’s video about my black diamond “Carpe Diem” skull designs? If not, you should do it now … and don’t forget to leave a comment for extra credit!
I promised nice still shots of the three-piece mini collection today. Actually, I’ve already shared plenty of photos of the original Carpe Diem medallion because that was finished last June, but here’s a reminder.
Next, I have a little surprise. The black diamond skull studs I posted in October …
… have been turned into drop earrings.
The size of the studs worked for a lot of people, but not people with very small ear lobes, like me. I decided that as drops, any skull-loving earring wearer could enjoy them. I’m obsessed with customer comfort.
Finally, here’s a good look at the design I just completed — skull earrings with crowns. You met these skulls before work started, when they looked like this.
Here’s what they look like now.
They look even more majestic on, and soon I will reveal some AH-MAZ-ING photos showing them on a very special model. In the meantime, you can find the carat weight of the diamonds and other details about the designs on 1stdibs.
Finally, in an amusing case of “great minds think alike (but also not),” the fantastic jewelry designer Monica Rich Kosann — who has long had a charm design inscribed with “Carpe Diem” — now has an entire Carpe Diem collection, which came to my attention, oh, about two hours after I finished shooting this week’s video. Monica presented my Fashion Group International Rising Star Award to me in 2012 and she was so sweet and supportive.
I always think of her in relation to that moment, and maybe that’s a part of why her “Carpe Diem” poesy bracelets and rock-crystal pendants look so happy to me. Though I also think that, objectively, this pendant does look bubbly and joyous.
For contrast, let’s take one more look at my more macabre interpretation of “seizing the day.”
There’s truly something for everyone when it comes to jewelry! Whether your vibe is this …
… or this …
… there’s probably a designer out there who feels the same way.
And right now, this whole post has me feeling like this …
… because when I was browsing the Wednesday Addams gifs, I found the original television show Wednesday introducing her headless doll.
Considering that another one of my mini collections is devoted to Mary Queen of Scots, who did indeed lose her head, it seems I should be the jewelry designer of choice for Addams family fans. I am more than okay with that! Come look at my designs, morbid friends, and let me help you find the jewelry of your dreams nightmares. By the way, diamonds are April’s birthstone. Celebrate another year on this earth by getting one of my new pieces for your Goth friend or Goth self, because what could be more fun that birthstone jewelry that scares the neighbors?
