Almost a year ago today, I was at the Women’s March on Washington, accompanied by a posse of my favorite wimmins, all holding pussy signs.
Since then, I’ve gone to numerous other protests; attended town halls; mailed, called, and emailed my senators, representative, and governor (ResistBot makes staying in touch even easier now); and participated in in-person meetings with the staff at my senators’ offices.
Of course, I’ve made some empowering jewelry too.
Most importantly, I joined the executive committee of my local Indivisible chapter, for which I write the weekly action newsletter. You can learn about the Indivisible Guide and its mission here. It’s easy to find a local group: Indivisible’s national organizers say there are now at least two Indivisible chapters in each of the 435 Congressional districts in the country. You can also start your own! Or join another organization! Or, even better, you can run for elected office yourself. As I said in this recent video, the best form of activism is voting the right people into office.
Whatever you do, I swear to you that doing ANYTHING is much more rewarding than staying glued to the news and feeling helpless and angry.
I’ll be at the Women’s March on New York City tomorrow. If you see the pussy sign (designed by my right-hand woman Eryn) come over and say hi!
