Jewelry expert Jennifer Heebner has written about the increasing popularity of heart-shaped gems. As Jennifer points out, hearts in jewelry tend to be a love ’em or hate ’em kind of thing. I used to fall into the latter camp, because I had only seen poorly cut or poorly set stones that looked more like triangles than hearts.
When I started designing my own jewelry, I realized I could insist on higher quality, so in 2010, I created a sleek platinum band set with a heart-shaped diamond.
I still make this style to order. It can serve as a unisex engagement ring or wedding band. If you’re crazy like me, you might prefer to wear it as a thumb ring.
If you’re interested in a stunning heart-shaped garnet, I have one that’s been waiting to be used in a design for quite a while. I’ve been too busy to get to it! It’s in the upper left corner of this collage.
If this appeals to you, now is the moment to request a custom design by contacting me at info at wendybrandes dot com — especially if you’d like some birthstone jewelry for January! Otherwise I hope to finally set this stone in a fabulous piece in 2018.
