Trump’s plan to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico is even more foolish than it seems on the surface because unauthorized immigration from Mexico is at a 40+ year low, as has been reported many times by many sources. Trump’s claims about Mexican immigrants pouring into the country have always been bald-faced lies. I wrote about this fact on The Activist Playbook.

Separately, on Sunday, Starbucks pledged to hire 10,000 refugees worldwide over the next five years. Yesterday, pro-Trump, anti-refugee websites started posting #BoycottStarbucks on social media. The hashtag was quickly and amusingly hijacked by people who were in favor of Starbucks. While reading the funny tweets, I came across a few that criticized Starbucks for helping refugees instead of veterans.
Well, here are the facts: In 2014, Starbucks announced it would hire 10,000 vets and military spouses by 2018. (Just over a year later, Starbucks had hired 5,500.)
The critics were “concern trolling” — disingenuously expressing concern about an issue in order to undermine the positive news. If they truly cared about vets, they would have celebrated, and remembered, the 2014 Starbucks pledge.
