I had been meaning to add SLAY to my collection of word and letter jewelry for ages, but I had a grand vision of a big, complicated, difficult piece. Then, in February, Beyoncé blew me away with her video for the song “Formation,” with its repeated “I slay” lyrics.

After that, I wanted to have my SLAY piece done yesterday, but that wasn’t going to happen with the design I had in mind. That’s when I recalled the wise words of Frank the Pug in Men in Black:
“You humans. When are you gonna learn that size doesn’t matter? Just ’cause something’s important, doesn’t mean it’s not very, very small.”

I had also had word studs on my to-do list for a long time. All I had to do was change my SLAY design to stud earrings, and I’d accomplish two goals at once. So that’s what I did. Thanks to Beyoncé and Frank the Pug for the inspiration.
