If you tried to visit the blog or website in the past few days, you probably saw a very scary warning about malware. But I’m back, and the malware has been banished.
I used Sucuri Security to dig all the bad stuff out. I’m happy with the results, though the process wasn’t that great. The Sucuri peeps couldn’t access my site in the way that they usually would — due to a quirk of my hosting company — so they sent me a message saying the such-and-such password didn’t work. I said, “Would XYZ information work instead?” and no one answered. I kept updating the support ticket saying, “Hellllloooooo?” “Are you there?” “HALP!” (Not literally, but that’s what I meant) I then created a new ticket to ask about the old ticket. I was scared to leave my computer even for a second. Hours went by! But, when Sucuri eventually did get back to me, they had the malware out very quickly, and gave me a list of the vulnerabilities so I could upgrade or eliminate software.
A piece of advice: If you at one time created a test site, or have other major subsets/versions of your blog/website that you aren’t using anymore, make sure you keep updating the software, or delete those spaces entirely. Evil things come in through unwatched doors!
Join me on Twitter tomorrow for live-tweeting of the Golden Globes. I’ll post the winner of my Best Dressed/Wear What You Want combo award on the blog, as always. Don’t come around here looking for “worst dressed,” though. My policy is “Wear what you want”!

Oh dear, that sounds very stressful. I’m glad it all got worked out.
