MrB and I recently started watching Man Men. We finished the first season a few days ago. “Shoot” — episode 9 of season 1 — has really stuck with me. During the last few moments of that one, MrB and I kept looking at each other and saying, “THIS IS GREAT!” I immediately got online to save some screen caps for future blog use, and I’ve realized, belatedly, that Mother’s Day is the perfect time to ogle Betty Draper shooting pigeons while a cigarette dangles from her mouth.
Is she stylish, or what?! This is definitely the look.

Why has it taken you so long to hop on the bandwagon? I am up to the current episode current season. Betty is the worst mother in tv land. Wait to you see how she ruins her kids peace of mind!
I don’t know! It was just one of those shows I figured I’d get around to “someday.”

My fave Mad Men scene was from the first season (I think) when Betty yelled at her kids for wearing dry cleaning bags on their heads (as she had kicked them out of the kitchen while smoking with friends). She levied some sort of threat against them to the effect: If you wreck my dry cleaning, I’m going to smack you senseless.
I laughed for 10 minutes.
That was a GREAT moment.
I’m with everybody else: Betty is THE worst mother in tv land since Peg Bundy (at least Peg was funny and knew she was a terrible mother & didn’t pretend to be anything else). Betty is a child herself in terms of her emotional development.
I’m surprised it’s taken you and Mr. B this long to start watching the show. Welcome!! BTW, does anybody else crave Scotch & cigarettes while watching EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE??? Just me?
