I love browsing the vintage clothes on 1stdibs for wild pieces like the Versace dress I blogged this weekend. I recently found two designs that are soooo Jackie Kennedy, without the pillbox hats. Actually, they’re way more literal than that. This one-of-a-kind dress by one of my favorite designers, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, features a silk sheath that was hand-painted with Jackie Kennedy’s face. It’s covered with a black chiffon “mourning veil.” The piece, which is on hold, was exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2006.
Also spotted: this cashmere sweater/tunic/dress-thing, covered with Jackie photos. It’s available for $475.
I’m also having fun looking for clothes that would be worthy of the new, ultra-’70s movie American Hustle. I can’t wait to see that for the fashion alone.
It’s too bad that nobody wore this disco-worthy Loris Azzaro dress to the premiere.
This over-the-top jacket by Estevez would have been the next best thing.
Man, I should have been invited to that opening. I would have dressed crazy! YOLO!
New York Magazine has a fun story on the hairstyles of American Hustle here.

Whoa! I am totally afraid to look at 1stdibs because of the inevitable fits of unbearable desire. Fabulous premiere picks – this is the only movie I’ve been excited to see in ages.

The Estevez jacket is divine! It doesn’t fit into my current lifestyle, unfortunately. However, I have a dream alternative universe lifestyle in which this jacket is a staple and David Bowie is my BFF. Sigh.

I want to hang out with you in your dream universe so I can meet Bowie!
