Last month, I wore my sunglasses at night — on a rainy night, no less — while my designing friend Stacy Lomman and I got drunk and taped an interview with Jorge Alvarado of Tampa Bay’s The Jorge Show. Look out, Oprah, here comes Jorge!
Jorge wanted his viewers to hear the truth about the fashion/jewelry industries so we gave him some straight talk. I recommend that you watch the whole show, of course, but if you can’t stand the suspense, jump to minute 44 to view our segment first.
Also, if you’re in New York on Tuesday, you can hear what I have to say in person and sans sunglasses during Fashion Group International’s first Rising Star Dialogues panel: “Roadmap to Owning Your Own Business.” The panel will be moderated by public-relations powerhouse James LaForce and the other participants are designer Tia Cibani, formerly of Ports 1961, now head of her own line; Wes Gordon, one of Michelle Obama’s preferred designers; and handbag designer Michelle Vale. The event takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at FGI’s headquarters on 8 W. 40th Street. Tickets are $15 for FGI members and $25 for non-members.
