This photo was taken during my senior year of high school (1984/1985).
The oversize sweatshirt was from a New York Store store called American High. It had a Camp Beverly Hills kind of vibe and put its “American High” seal on basics like sweatshirts, t-shirts and high-top sneakers.
Earlier this week, my sister reminded me of another store we loved in the ’80s: Think Big. We’d go the original location in Soho and pine over the 6′-tall pencils and 5′-tall Crayola crayons. The brick-and-mortar Think Big stores were closed down in 1994, but a fan/customer of the chain has revived it online as GreatBigStuff.com. All these years later and I’m still not sure which color crayon I want!

Yellow is a cheerful color! Just let’s avoid “Burnt Sienna.” Ha ha! That’s the worst crayon.
