I picked up a few more sterling-silver bunny stud earrings from my manufacturer yesterday. If you’re in the U.S. and order by Monday night, you can get yours in time for Easter Sunday. Order a pair …
… or, if seeing two bunnies together makes you kinda nervous …
… you can get just one bun.
I know how the kid in the photo above feels, because when I was growing up in scenic Mahwah, N.J., one of the neighbors got bunnies for Easter. Soon after the holiday, I was surprised to see black-and-white domestic rabbits hopping around in my backyard. I figured they’d escaped, so I caught two with a badminton net and temporarily stashed them in a shed, where one immediately hopped on top of the other. My innocence was taken away! I ran off to get a cardboard box to pack the rabbits in and when I came back, they’d switched positions. Dafuq?! My innocence was taken away AGAIN! I put the romantic rabbits in the box and delivered them back to the neighbor, feeling proud of myself. The next day the rabbits were back in my yard. I’m not 100% sure whether the neighbor was an asshole who was letting the rabbits go because they’d outlived their usefulness as holiday decorations or whether another neighbor’s annoying Airedale Terrier was knocking over the hutch. I did manage to recapture one bun and establish him in a hutch in my yard, but I had to chase him down a few more times because of that damn Airedale, so I suppose I have to give the original owner the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, I created the bunny earrings at the request of my gorgeous client Heather, who wanted a gold pair. I was pleased to get an email from her yesterday, saying, “I love them! The whiskers are so adorable! I also love how they face each other as a bunny set. Thank you so much for making them – they make me very hoppy!” If you are dreaming of a stud-earring design that’s not on my site yet, follow Heather’s example and send me a request at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com. I can also customize existing designs, so feel free to ask for your bunnies or pigs to have diamond, sapphire or ruby eyes. If you’re not in the market for earrings right now, remember that nearly all of my studs can be turned into pendants or first-knuckle (mid-finger) rings. Send me your request and see it done!
All of the stud designs are petite, of course — just five millimeters high — but they’re solid. Gorgeous blogger Megan Mae of Megan Mae Daily, who received her custom-requested “M” initial stud earring earlier this year, wrote that she was “happily surprised at the substantial size of the stud.” This week, my manufacturer reminded me that I could save money by reducing the amount of metal used in these pieces. But because there’s nothing I can do to produce truly inexpensive jewelry for my customers, as I explained here yesterday, I’m not going to compromise my standards and make something flimsy in order to squeeze out a few more bucks for myself. Everything I make feels as good as it looks. I guarantee it.

Love them, and I bet my two little bunny rabbits would love em too. I do have a birthday coming up (which is coincidentally also my first wedding anniversary) so I think I need to drop major hints to my husband.

I want to see pix of your bunnies!

I love my stud earring! I wear it at least once a week, if not more. Now that I’ve got short hair I need to look into more earrings. 😉

Let me know if you have any special ideas!

Totally kicking myself for not asking for my bunnies to have sapphire eyes!

Awwwww! But you got them on time for Easter at least, which you wouldn’t have if they had eyes!
