You know those times you’re looking at a fashion editorial in a magazine and see the Best!Thing!Ever!? And you have to have that thing, so you look for the store credits and then get depressed when it says “stylist’s own”? I felt like I was in a fashion magazine on Sunday when designer/blogger/FIT instructor/stylist/neighbor Stacy Lomman ran over to my apartment to lend me her own sweater so that I’d have the perfect going-out-to-dinner outfit.
What Wendy Wore, Styled by Stacy Lomman
Navy sweater: Stylist’s own
Skirt: Zang Toi (2005)
Shoes: Prada (2012, birthday gift from MrB)
Purse: Louis Vuitton (2011)
Lipstick: Chanel Rouge Double Intensité in Ruby Lite
Jewelry: All my own designs, as usual
I normally wear the lacy Zang Toi skirt with a matching sleeveless turtleneck, as seen in this 2009 post. But Stacy decided it could be more versatile. She found a couple of dressy options in my closet during our wardrobe therapy project, but she wanted to make the skirt more casual for my informal dinner, hence the loaned sweater. Stacy knew I would like the sweater because it has the kind of feminine flourish I like, thanks to two decorative buttons and ribbon.

A closer look at the buttons.
Combining the skirt with the chunky platform loafers was obviously Stacy’s idea too. I never would have gone there on my own, but I wound up thinking an edgy look was so much better than the “pretty” shoe I would have chosen. Another remarkable aspect of this outfit? There’s no black in it! Amazing. I just hope I don’t lose my Manhattan residency after deviating from the local uniform of all black everything.
I’ve added this to the Visible Monday link roundup on Not Dead Yet Style. Click over to that post to see how other wimmins are dressing to stand out!
In this case, “Once you go black” doesn’t necessarily apply…;)
LOL.
Hilarious! And I love the sweater with the skirt.
Love those shoes. I walked the length of Oxford Street to see if they were in sale in Selfridges, but no dice. Well done MrB!
They’re so comfortable too!
Those shoes are a joy to behold! x
I considered the black version and MrB insisted on the red and he was right!
Hi my dear! A lovely look, the skirt is gorgeous and Stacy was spot on styling it with those shoes and navy sweater-well done!!
I keep hoping her taste is going to rub off on me soon!
LOL at Stacy’s comment! Love this look, you and Stacy are magic together. Thanks for linking up.
She’s stylish AND funny!
Another great look – those shoes knock me right over, wow!
I could totally see you in these shoes.
Great outfit, I like the shoe and skirt combo, the blouse is great too with those ribbons, some simple femininity.

She knows I love little doodads — ribbons and other cute touches. I hated to give the sweater back!
Perfection! Stacy is such a talent.
Those Prada shoes are AMAZING! Gorgeous!
I really like this look, and I feel depressed that I don’t own that top or skirt!
If you were our neighbor, you could borrow them 🙂
That sweater makes it a great color combination, and I’m so glad you chose those shoes! You have to get them out there as much as you can. Max out.
