Two years ago, I spent the Oscars complaining about the popularity of dresses in hues that reminded me of cement. Alas, the cement-colored dresses are back at tonight’s Emmy Awards. Here are two:
Also representing the sidewalk were Morena Baccarin of Homeland in Basil Soda, Sarah Hyland of Modern Family in Marchesa, and Christina Hendricks of Mad Men in Christian Siriano. All beautiful ladies but such a dreary color! Blinding yellow is the only antidote: I need to stare at Julie Bowen, Julianne Moore and Claire Danes to cheer myself up.
UPDATED TO ADD: While I was watching the Emmys with friend/blogger/designer Stacy Lomman, she took this fuzzy-wuzzy picture of Henry the dog with his Emmy.
(That’s really MrB’s 2005-2006 Emmy for business news. But don’t tell Henry.)

I’m not a fan of this color either! It’s sooooo drab! A wine lip might have brightened it up a but bit but i wish this color would retire…

Blah.
But some Wendy Brandes jewels could help.

Christina Hendricks could make a flour sack look amazing. The color here is doing nothing for her though. But her hair and makeup are superb! She needs the Susan earrings to set off that red hair!!!
WendyB says
The Susan earrings would be PERFECT on her.

Gowns in hues of cement – I had to laugh at this apt description. Great imagery! I want to see YOU on the red carpet.

I’m not a fan of the ashen look. I much preferred Julie Bowen’s dress. You can watch the Emmys on TV while actually fondling one? Impressed!
Denise says
You can see where they were going, but when it’s a great dress otherwise there’s always a better colour. But if they insist on cement, they should just embrace the sidewalk and smack a big gob of gum on their hip.

I knooooow! I’m doing an Emmys post on the blog now but got bored and watched Breaking Bad instead.

LOL!

Congrats, Henry, you deserve it for…for what is your Emmy again? For being totes adorable while watching TV? I feel ya! You rock, Bro’!
You’re right, Wendy, cement is awfully unflattering under all those flash bulbs.
