After my Never Is the Next New Thing™ post on mullet dresses — or as I prefer to call them, high/low hemlines — 10 fashion bloggers graciously shared photos of their high/low outfits with me. Check out the slideshow on the Huffington Post and leave some nice comments for the ladies.

As for me, I realized that a vintage Versace gown that I wore in 2003 counts as a mullet, thanks to the sheer panel in the front.
Sadly, I don’t have the dress anymore. After it was mangled by an untalented tailor, it no longer fit. (As I’ve said before, I ONLY go to Jean at Ghost Tailor now.) But my designing friend Zang Toi has promised that he will make me the Fall 2010 high/low gown that I regretted not buying last year.
I’m positive that I will feel like a miniskirted Elizabeth I in this! It’s so regal … yet leggy.
The ZT frock is amazing, where would you wear it? I’d love to go some place I could wear such a grand gown. Love the Huffpost article!
Thanks for participating in HuffPost! Loved your dress.
I’ll wear Zang to the Committee to Protect Journalists dinner in November!
I cannot wait to see your new mullet on this blog come November. It’ll be a sexy mullet for sure, like Duran Duran and Def Leppard had way back when.
Doesn’t this hairdo count? http://www.eye4style.com/eye4style-Interview—Wendy-Brandes-2392645
Yes. Yes it does. 😉
The Mullet dress – lady you crack me up. I don’t think I will ever be able to call it anything else ever again.
🙂
Okay, that counts. X)
Stunning in Versace! Loved the Huff Post blog post and enjoyed checking out bloggers that were new to me. Thanks!
I love that Versace on you! I can’t believe how great you look in that color. How sad and possibly angrifying that a bad tailor rendered it unwearable.
I love Zang’s work . . . that mullet gown is incredible.
Thanks again for including me, Wendy. I can’t wait to see what Zang whips up!
Beautiful dress coming your way! But can we change the name????
I enjoyed the Huff Post piece — those mullet dresses all looked fabulous but the ZT dress is beyond fabulous.
Such a shame your beautiful dress was ruined, It looks amazing. can’t wait to see your new one when it is made. I definitely need to get out to some more formal parties so I can get an amazing new dress.
I really like this look and was wondering how old do you think too old is to get away with wearing it??
brett
I don’t think there’s an age limit…look at Vahni’s dress in the slideshow. I think anyone can wear that.
Hi my dear-a gorgeous post, can’t wait to see you in the Zang Toi gown xxx
Love the ZT dress!
I love this new phrase, mullet dress, and I’m so sorry that gorgeous gown got ruined by a sub-par seamstress. Glad you found a good one!
LOL regal yet leggy…sounds like a look we should all aspire to. 🙂
Aw man, Zang’s gown will look smashing on you!
I love that gown and you look beautiful in your gown. While it is awful that your gown was destroyed, it is very good that you found a really great tailor. They are so hard to find, especially in small towns.
You are too young to remember I Love Lucy, but she used to wear pants with a long skirt over them. The skirt was split rather like the dress above. I know it is crazy but I always loved that look. She looked so elegant to me when I was a little girl.
Oh, I watched LOTS of Lucy! Every day! I always thought she looked very glam even though I wasn’t into fashion then. I was just reminiscing about the grape-stomping episode at a wine tasting last week.
Woo-hoo, I’m on the HuffPost! Thanks for including me, Wendy. I cannot WAIT to see that Zang Toi dress on you, although I hope you pair it with your usual red lippy instead of purple.
I think red lips look great with purple clothes, so I’m sure that’s what I’ll do! Thanks so much for participating in HuffPost. Tell all your friends! 🙂
you’re so pretty!
oh god, the purple gown is stunning!
Long time no speak Wendy, I need to catch-up with all your glorious blogging!
Great to hear from you!
Oh god, that Versace looks amazing! An elegant but still appealing look… Not an easy combination!
