The Golden Globes, Diane Kruger and Listerine

January 19, 2010 by WendyB

My favorite dress at the Golden Globes on Sunday was Diane Kruger’s ombre pink Christian Lacroix.

Diana Kruger in Lacroix, January 2010.

Of course, I’m fond of ombre pink.

WendyB in Zang Toi, May 2009

When I first wore my gown, I excitedly emailed a photo to a friend who snarkily said, “You look beautiful in anything, of course, but that dress is a bit bridesmaid-y.” My reply was, “That would have to be one stupid bride.”

Not a good idea to have half-naked women in your bridal party.

Speaking of bridesmaids, the expression, “Often a bridesmaid, never a bride,” originated in ads for Listerine mouthwash in the 1930s.

The saying that’s more relevant to my dress-related email exchange is “With friends like this, who needs enemies?” As for Diane, I saw four unattractive fashion police criticizing her dress on TV yesterday. I don’t have a saying to console her, but maybe my favorite Katt Williams quote will suffice: “What do you think a hater’s job is? To fucking hate. So let them motherfuckers do their goddamn job!”

UPDATED TO ADD: No matter what Katt says, it’s more fun to feel the love than the hate, so thanks to luscious blogger Liz of It’s Unbeweavable! for interviewing me. Check me out here.

I’m trying to get to 16 before the summer gets here.

I wish he was still doing shows. In fact, 2 years ago, I was watching him do a variation of this show on my birthday! This one…not so eventful…so I’m glad you posted this video to remind me. =D

    Hahaha! Thanks for that!

You know, I totally <3 the pink dress. You look beautiful! But, if I saw you on the street, I'd probably try to steal it from you.

If you’ve got it, flaunt it, baby! And… how refreshing to see a naturally beautiful back, instead of the usual eyeful of artificially enhanced boob.

I have to say…loved the pink. It was a nice splash of colour is a sea of nude colour dresses that washed everyone wearing them out.

They are indeed very similar! I think Diane’s dress is fabulous, for it reminds me of two other dresses I loved either more

    1) Christine Hendricks’. Did you see it?
    2) Yours

Unbelievable! You and I picked the same dress as our favorite at the Globes. I was looking at the roundup on People.com, and I stared at that one a long time.

That Zang dip-backed dress is my favorite that I’ve seen you wear. Pink works!
