While I was agonizing over what to do with my nu shooz from L.A. (see the second update at the end of this post), I was reminded that I’ve been meaning to share a photo of a favorite pair of old shooz. These Patrick Cox shoes were my first pair of wedges. I think I got them in the mid ’90s. I don’t wear them that often, but a couple of times a year I take them out and show them off.
After reading this post, Miss Woo commented on my tiger-striped top, which is in reality a tiger-striped dress. I wear this dress to death but never seem to get a full-length picture of it. It’s a Clovis Ruffin I won on eBay. Originally it was floor length, but I gave it the chop. I meant to wear it with black tights in L.A., but when I got there I realized I’d packed leggings (not latex leggings) instead of tights. I tried it on to see how it would look and didn’t like it, but at least you can see the full dress in this picture.
On the last night of the trip, our fabulous friends Bruce and Michele took us to dinner at Dan Tana’s, which was a laugh and a half. Quite a few of our fellow diners looked like this guy. But meaner.
Somehow, I felt too shy to corral Michele and Bruce into taking a photo for the blog. Instead, Paul took one of me back at the hotel. I am wearing the Black Halo top I got in Miami. It gives me a Studio 54 vibe. I’m wearing it with my usual Acne jeans and Lagerfeld shoes I got at the 1994 going-out-of-business sale at the New York branch of Galeries Lafayette.
I can barely remember my home phone number most of the time, but I can remember when and where I bought those shoes. Go figure!
I love your Patrick Cox shoes and it’s wonderful gray…swirlies (for a lack of a better word!).
Remembering what you wore and where, and when you bought it far outstrips remembering your phone number in the Importance Rankings.
I love those PC shoes, and the dress. That top is v. disco, it suits you!
i love your shoes and your pale skin !!hahaha
those wedges are fantastic, and I don’t even like wedges most of the time.
I heart the PC wedges…we need to send all our love his way and hope he can find the the money men to give the brand the kiss-of-life.
Luckily you don’t through your ols sshoes out because those wedges look so modern & remind me of Miu Miu for some reason.
My favourite is your silver top, the ruched detailing is beautiful.
And is that a prada bag on the table in the hotel pic?? Whatever brand it is i love it!
the 1994 going-out-of-business sale at the New York branch of Galeries Lafayette…Was that not a tragique occasion!
Why does everything French die in New York City..?
Please tell me. Perre Herme didn’t make it either..go figure
Oh, those are lovely shoes. I am, however, mourning the return of your Lanvin shoes. A very sad day.
I love the stripey (?) bands on the wedges- so brilliantly cool! And I always thought tiger print was ridiculous, but you do wear it well…(seriously, is there anything you don’t wear well?).
Wendy you have mad style love your outfit in the first picture.
your new ‘shooz’ are awesome, I love a wedged heel.
Me in tiger print = idiot, you in tiger print = fab
Ooh, those wedges are super cute.
I thought I had some mild dementia because I can’t seem to remember my new phone # or address–now, thanks to you, I see that I am using that memory to remember all the stories about the provenance of my shoes. Thank you!!;-)
Very cool. I love the Cox (shoes):) – i really must remember to get my mind out of the gutter.
Imelda M., seriously! I was sorry to see that he was having trouble. He has really had some wild financial ups and downs.
Angela, thank you *sniffle*
BFH, thank YOU. I’m always attracted to things I find to be “funny” (I was enthusiastically calling a designer friend’s work “funny” the other day and he was NOT registering it as a compliment) and tiger print is definitely funny.
LBR, you’ve got the right priorities, I see.
Danielle, naughty!
I’m with Enc’s comments! Clearly you remember the important details.
Love original wedges by the way, a true fabulous investment.
Love the wedges! And you wear “funny” well.
nice style
those shoes are amazing! and I am that pale without flash lol
the shoes are very funky 😉 love the dress
Lovely pictures.
My skin, however, really is that pale.
OMG – Why do the wedge sit in tissue for most of the year. I LOVE them. Wear them more, for me, pls!
I did not know that Galleries Lafayette had an NY branch. Can your city get any cooler, I wonder? (Self aggrandizing moment: I was born in NY, though I have few memories of living there.)
Finally, I think the leopard print is awesome too. All round gorgeous visual post, Wendy. K
Those shoes are REALLY cool…
ohhhh! i love those wedge heals. i wish those were staying in more than the skinny heals. I love a good balance when I walk.

those wedges are gorgeous
it IS remarkable that you remember every tiny detail about where and how you got your shoes and clothes.
Proof I have chosen fat over fashion: a mention of “wedges” makes me hungry for cheese.
That Black Halo top!!!!! Love it paired with the skinny jeans.
The secret of the tiger stripe is revealed! and I must say you still looks very sexy in the dress.
i love love the tiger stripe dress! fantastico.
Way cool outfits. You’re like a digital version of paper dolls.
