Today I wore the top and the shoes I got at the Castelbajac store in London.

Castelbajac top and shoes, Derek Lam skirt.
I can only understand a few words in French, but I instantly comprehended the lady on the Metro who pointed at my feet and said (in French), “Your shoes…superb…superb.” MrB and I caught two other Metro mademoiselles giving me elevator eyes, starting at the shoes and traveling up. A sure sign of an excellent purchase!
More on Day 5 adventures in the next post.
I definitely agree with the random French woman, your shoes are indeed superb!
OMG! Elevator Eyes.. YES!
BTW, my word was “pooch”
Hee hee!
This is pretty much one of the most perfect top-skirt-shoes combinations ever.
I would totally be checking you out too! LOL! 😉
Also that top is some stripe glory!
I find Europeans are not shy about direct elevator eyeballing. Especially Italians…
Ooo la la. Tres jolie!
OK, they are awesome. But I find it hard to believe that random Paris ladies would deign to show you their true feelings! 🙂 I couldn’t even manage a second look from chic french women. Of course, I wasn’t wearing those shoes.
shoe speak is an international language haha
Fabulous ensemble. The shoes are indeed superb.
I’m gonna have to tell Lewis about “Elevator eyes”…too funny. He calls it the “you’ve just been felt up by a chick” look.
Elevator eyes. Love that! But maybe they are “escalator eyes” if they only look you up OR down and not both?
I love that look! The colors and b/w stripes are fantastic. I forgot to tell you that there is a brand here in Taipei called “Milida” that reminds me of your style. Their dresses are hard to describe. It’s like pop art collages made from really brightly colored fabrics. They don’t have a Web site b/c knock-offs are rampant here (I passed by the Taiwan govt.’t intellectual property services office today and nearly fell over laughing), but I’ll try to find a photo to show you. Hmmm… maybe I’ll just have to buy a dress for myself and take a picture of it.
Wendy, you are one stylish gal. I love the whole outfit. Everything!!!
The whole outfit is superbe!
She was right. The whole look is superb.
Look how saucy your shoulders are in that top?! Dang, nice delts!
J’adore, Mademoiselle!
xoxox,
CC
Superb indeed! And I had no idea that gaze had its own name. “Elevator eyes”…I learn something new from you every day. 🙂
Hi praise from the french indeed! And they are superb!
Lovely!
Gorgeous from head to toe!
Tres Jolie!
I adore the entire outfit!
By the way…when I lived in Paris I always thought that on the whole American women (you know what I mean, LA and NY types) were more chic than French women. And you beat most Parisiennes in that outfit!
Superb is the word. LOVE ’em.
The sweater is adorable!
I couldn’t love you or your blog more. Those shoes! Totally jealous.
J’adore the shoes!!! you look fabulous — you know you’re thin, when you can wear a top with those great horizontal lines — shoes are great — and your hair is even cooperating so nicely!!!
Loving the outfit!
will you look fabulous!!! of course they were eyeing you!
Love your top and now you got me hooked on that urban dictionary, grrrrrrrrrrrrr
lol
C’est bon!
those french ladies…even the compliments are out of the side of their mouths.
you look so fabulous!
I LOVE elevator eyes. hehe
and my anti spam word is “toasty” which i AM… after 2 glasses of wine 🙂
Yes indeed…i’d have stared too! Love the outfit top to shoes 🙂 And that chair you are sitting in…OMG!!!
Love the shoes. Elevator eyes are always funny. But you look great there.
Oh WB, you look *fabulous*!!!
(giggle…my anti-spam word was “wicked”. So there you go- You look Wicked Good)
I actually wanted to say this on your last post, but this post is the more appropriate platform to say it on. Say, how many pairs of shoes do you pack for a trip, Wendy? You always have the perfect ones to pair an outfit you wear on this trip alone!
I covet those Castelbajac!
i love ur shoes… very cute… =)
the colors are so bright! =D
You look so completely French in this ensemble. I’m sure you look nothing like a tourist – but a true resident of the City of Light! 🙂
Tres chic mon cherie!!
Yes, you look very Parisian 😉 I would have done elevator eyes on you myself LOL!
they are such a good pairing!
I love that you can understand compliments in languages you don’t speak! ‘Superbe’ indeed! Love the cloud boob, too.
You look like zee million dollars! I tip my beret and twirl my mustache at you, Madam.
Can we get a close up of those?!!
Thumbelina, of the shoes? Here: http://wendybrandes.com/blog/2009/07/london-day-4-henry-viii-and-hamlet/
As they say, “Vous avez du chien”, which literally translates to “You have some dog” but is an expression that means you’re totally rocking your look.
That is a great outfit!
Love the colors of the outfit and the shoes!
Those shoes are punchy- in the best possible way! You look very Parisienne and chic with the stripes and the primary colors… Oui oui!
Your shoes ARE superb, or as we used to say when was an exchange student in France they are “tres zbob!”
