I’ve mentioned my love for the animated series Family Guy before. On one episode, Peter Griffin gets his own segment on the local news called “What Really Grinds My Gears.” Take a look.
The incest/period portion of that clip isn’t relevant to my post today. I don’t even have a brother, for God’s sake! You people and your perverted minds. I love you anyway. But I’ll tell you what really grinds my gears. A designer named Pam Hogg. She specializes in designing shiny catsuits best worn by pop stars and celebrity spawn.
You regular gals who don’t want to look like C-3PO on the stroll can get the more conservative dress version of the look for 795 pounds at Browns.
The mere existence of this stuff doesn’t grind my gears. What bothers me is that gorgeous blogger and fashion adventurer Susie Bubble boldly modeled some of the Hogg catsuits for a fun post — only to have Hogg’s people complain that it was “bad publicity.” Susie, being the nice person that she is, took the original post down. I, being the bitch that I am, say, “Welcome to the world of bad publicity, Pam Hogg!”
I also want to say to you peeps that there are a lot of designers who are thrilled by your enthusiasm for their work. I am always honored when customers or admirers post photos of my jewelry. I started a fan page on Facebook just to share those pictures. Basically as long as you’re not stealing my designs — or making off with one of my rings (that can only be forgiven once, Britney) — take as many pictures as you like and let the world know how awesome I am! I know my designing friends Christian Francis Roth and Zang Toi feel the same way. So if you’re going to spend your money, spend it with those of us who appreciate your fine asses! Do we have a deal? I think we have a deal! Just don’t buy stuff, wear it and return it. Now THAT will piss me off.
UPDATED TO ADD: Racked.com posted on the topic with two of Susie’s photos. Susie looks like a beautiful robot, no? My robotic Hogan shoes would complete the look.

as a blogger, i got pissed when i heard what they said to susie. i mean, when we blog about designers we like, it's like free publicity on social media for them! word spreads like fire, and when a blog like susie's has a picture of a product, it's like a freaking advertisement!
as a designer myself, i'm even more annoyed. i can't imagine ever telling that to anyone. i really don't think i would ever want people like heidi montag in my clothes, no matter how unknown i am. people like susie however, with an obvious love for fashion and an adventurous streak like no other, i could kill to have her in my clothes.
add the fact that susie has blogged more than once about this particular hogg, i mean, how dare they. if they didn't want their clothes on susie, they could have at least done it in a nice and civilised way.
Ashe Mischief says
Damn straight! Especially the part on spending our money with you, I mean, designers who are pleased to have customers who are enthused about their work.
Also, Susie = Totally cuter than Peaches Geldof.
Jen says
I hope this gets linked absolutely everywhere. It's one thing to be a little frustrated at obviously negative publicity, but to openly bitch about someone writing a post about you to the point that they have to take it down? That's just messed up.

I don't know man, I'm all for looking luscious and different and individual and unique and a bit out there but those are ugly. That's all. The dress is ok but the suits? Ick. Me no likey. Even for crazy, rock chick stage wear I don't find having a sweaty crotch all that fun. And those just scream "SWEATY CROTCH!"
InnyVinny says
HERE HERE!! I saw red when I read Susie's post. How ridiculous was that?!?! Just rude and trifling.
UGH.
Dr Zibbs says
Wendy B – thanks for alerting me to this. I will make sure that these fashions never enter my county.
alixrose says
I was flabbergasted to see what occurred with Susie. It just boggles my mind on where exactly Pam Hogg was coming from. It totally grinds my gears too.
The way they handled it was utterly unprofessional and shameful. They not only offended Susie, but they offended all of us.
Shen-Shen says
Ahhaaa Family Guy! What an awesome show.
And what the hell, seriously?! That pisses me off. What the hell kinda bitch is this Pam. GRRR.
evie says
Well said Wendy!
thefatandskinnyonfashion says
Totally rude and inappropriate, and of all the bloggers to do it to. they had to do it to someone so popular and sweet. they suck.
miss cavendish says
Love catsuits; remember a Naf Naf one fondly. And bad publicity? Looks like Ms. Hogg is generating plenty of that on her own.
MizzJ says
What a pretentious snob! How could she do that to Susie, who actually manages to make those freakshow clothes look good?! Talk about ungrateful.
Losing It says
I have too many pig/hogg puns, so I'll just sum it up: what a cunt.
The Clothes Horse says
My gears are grinding now too! How dare those snobbish Hogg people–Susie is the best possible publicity in my opinion!
Sister Wolf says
Yep, a total fucking cuntTM!
Elizabeth Marie says
Wow. This is the first I've heard of this, and I'm really effing annoyed. How disappointing some people can be.
SnapandPrint says
I think Pam Hogg's clothing is beyond silly and unwearable in real life…who wants to look like a 60s sci-fi character walking down the street?
Still the blogger looks greta in the outfit and that the deisgner got upset by the post is beyond silly since she can use any good publicity she can get.
Her clothing is unique enough that not many people can wear it and to make a blogger have to take down their post is really stupid.
Nina (femme rationale) says
thank you for posting the pic of susie. i was curious to see the pic that launched a thousand pam hogg haters. susie looks SO COOL in that catsuit! way cooler than any of her "famous" customers (who probably don't even pay for the "clothes"). susie actually makes the catsuit look cool and wearable. major mistake on hogg's part.
-h says
thanks for the heads up on this. well if they thought that her wearing it was bad publicity, it's even "worse" now. but publicity is still publicity because even though i saw the original post i actually remember the designer's name now.
i like the expression, "what gets me goat" to "grinds my gears"
this wheel's on fire says
yeah i didn't watch either. i was never much of a leno fan…

You're so right! Well done!
Practically Perfect In Every Way says
hate n the cat suit,
love n the cutie in it!
thanks for the public service announcement, i will think twice before i order a butt load of your jewelry, wear it to (fill in chain resturant of your choice here…) and then return it. that would be rude, and difficult to get the grease off the gems!
La Belette Rouge says
You tell em!!!!!! So ridiculous and poorly thought out by Hogg.
Susie, you look amazing. Don't let the hater Hogs get you down.
Retro Chick says
Personally I hate those catsuits and I think the only person I have seen look half decent in them is Susie.
I really can't comprehend how Pam Hogg can feel that she should have that kind of power over how her clothes are covered by bloggers or any kind of media. I think it's just plain rude.
theswellelife.com says
Bacon is delicious and pork loin is heavenly. But Pam Hogg gives me diarrhea.

Susie's pic is absolutely cool!
Never thought that someone would get mad at her for this and consider it "bad publicity"… Haven't they heard the saying about it??? "There's no such thing as bad publicity, except your own obituary"…
Wendy, you DO know how to treat your customers! 🙂
Hannah says
I can't believe they said that to Susie, as well as being unnecessary it's completely insulting. I wasn't actually very keen on her suits until I saw Susie wearing one. She actually made the suits look far more appealing to me than any of the celebrities snapped wearing them! She sort of brought it down to earth a little, made it seem less outrageous, which I think is a good think when it comes to clothes like these!
Miss Peelpants says
Way back when, Pam Hogg was a brilliantly inventive designer. I've got a lot of vintage pieces by her, and although she scared me silly – I thought she seemed like an awesome person.
After all, she did stick a sign up in her shop once which said 'Fashion is Shit'.
But I guess fashion isn't so shit now is it Pam? Not when you've got Peaches Geldof to model your samey samey catsuits and the fashion press are prepared to fall over themselves because 'once upon a time' you had some original ideas and Siouxsie wears your stuff.
I'm keeping hold of a few vintage pieces, I may sell another few in protest. But it's nice to have a memory of a time when I could still admire her.
Princess Poochie says
I'm taking this as a public service announcement. I don't want to be wearing anything Peaches (gag) is wearing anyways.
Thank you Susie for warning me!
Oh, and tell Pam to suck it.
StyleSpy says
Amen, sister. Susie's adorable, tyou'd have to be out of your gourd not to want her modeling your duds.
I think I'm going to post about this, too…
enc says
I'm glad you posted the Bubble photo, because I missed it the first time around.
I really dont' see what Hogg's problem is. Susie looks great. That's not easy to pull off in something like this.
K.Line says
I commented on Susie's original Hogg post, advising how adorable I think the photos are. I cannot believe – seriously – that Pam's PR machinery could be so idiotic. Truly, Susie is great model of some rather challenging-to-wear (some may say unfortunate looking) shiny, synthetic cat suits. I'm appalled that she'd be made to feel bad for expressing her(cute)self.
Sharon Rose says
Hi there-this is a poor show indeed! Susie looks gorgeous and its a shame she's been treated like this.
Sal says
I still can't believe Hogg's people are so mean, idiotic, and short-sighted. What a pack of morons.
Jill says
Susie is a perfect candidate to wear one of these insane bodysuits. She looks fabulous in it and her hair is the only accessory needed. Hogg should be thanking the gods for such fab free press! What a ridiculous bitchy thing to do.
Kristin says
Jeers to pretentious arse clowns. He looks fabulous.
Belle de Ville says
Wendy, I'm with you. There is nothing more flattering than to have a blogger or client post a picture of your products.
issa says
oh wow i didn't hear about this at all.. she does look fabulous in it too.. what the heck.

The future of clothing looks pretty cool 🙂 thanks for the comment!

Miss Janey says
So wait a sec… that HOT girl is modeling their clothes, and blogging about them, and they're complaining? Way to build a business! What stupid fuck heads.
Megan says
That is such a terrible thing for them to say to a blogger. She's giving them publicity and it's not "bad", as she looks adorable! What jerks.
K says
i guess they haven't heard "there's no such thing as bad publicity" or perhaps their actions are a publicity ploy in itself.
Cammila says
So the lady who designs shiny, lycra spandex unitards is picky about who's pictured wearing them? These look like costumes for Howard Moon from the Mighty Boosh (exhibit A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IjGNJPNyzU)
I enjoy my British comedy duos as the next girl, but between a stylish, witty, beautiful fashion blogger and a pasty, skinny, male comedian who's wearing it as a joke, I'd take the former.
lisa says
I was really outraged when I found out about this too, especially after reading Susie's follow-up post and seeing how distraught she seemed. As for Susie's blog being bad publicity compared to celebrity spawn wearing Pam Hogg, well, I don't give a rat's ass about celebrity spawn but I read Style Bubble every day. I imagine others feel the same way and wouldn't give Pam Hogg a second glance if not for Susie's blogging.
Cas Ruffin says
That's a bad look on Pam Hogg. Some designers don't appreciate what fashion bloggers do for them, but some do and use it to their advantage. The PR move was amateurish on Hogg's part.
LENORENEVERMORE says
"Pam Hog…you are not very nice dear…I adore Susie & her zest for fashion! and you too Wendy darlin' ~XO*
AsianCajuns says
I love these, WendyB! And I love them even better after seeing them on Susie. Without the oh-so-stylish Bubble I wouldn't think twice about these unless I was Lady Gaga. So there, Pam Hogg. Great post, WendyB! (we are family guy fans too 😉
Sher says
Pam Hoggs sounds like a "snob" I wouldn't buy any of her items now. But then again it doesn't seem like my taste.
Cudos to Suzie for being such a nice person. And she should return her item to them.
