My friend Evan has this Bob Mackie dress at his vintage store Frock.

Check out the fuchsia ruffle at the bottom. There’s also an adorable fuchsia sequin heart on the back. If I had this one, I’d wear it on Valentine’s Day, of course. I have a flair for the obvious.
Evan also has a nice little black dress from Mr. Blackwell, with a fishtail detail in the back. I’ve written about Mr. Blackwell here, here and here.
If you’re ever in New York and want to check out some awesome designer vintage, stop by Frock at 148 Orchard Street, between Stanton and Rivington, and tell Evan that I sent you. I previously posted about Evan here, here, here and here.
If you’re into Mr. Blackwell, there’s another interesting piece on eBay: a cream dress with a matching sleeveless jacket and a brightly colored scarf. It’s in pretty good condition for $55.
UPDATED TO ADD: After reading this post, gorgeous blogger Cherie of Shrimpton Couture decided to share her spectacular Mr. Blackwell gown with us. Click the photo to go to her blog for more information.
Its beautiful, I need to check it out. Have a great sunday!
Hi there-the first dress is totally divine! Have a great Sunday!
The first two look pretty stylish but the third one sort of looks like dresses my sisters might have made in Home Ec class. Then again, most of my knowledge on the subject comes from Project Runway Canada. Then again (again), I just watch that for Iman and the cattiness.
Clearly, I’m missing out on something good with Project Runway Canada!
Pretty dress! My mother is totally obssessed with Bob Mackie.
That heart dress is SO Alexis Carrington! Even so, it would look great with your gold Diana necklace…and a martini to throw in Dex’s face. 😀
I can totally see Amw Winehouse in that Bob Mackie. Maybe with red shoes?
I love the first 2 dresses, especially the 2nd. I think I share your flair for the obvious.
LUV the black Blackwell.
Oh, and frock vintage is awesome. What inventory!
That first dress is just darling!!! How sexy is it!
You would smoulder in that honey!
muah x

Love the 2nd dress!!
Hey W to the B!
Holy poo that first dress would be worth every penny. I just resurrected an 80s prom dress with a similar cut but it looks like crap next to that creation!
xoxox,
CC
P.S. sorry for saying crap and poo.
P.P.S. Is it bad that I let my tags pile up and do them all at once? CC overload?
Me too 🙂
xoxo
whoa – i haven’t come across any bob mackie since so long! it’s so refreshing to see new life breathed into ’80s aesthetics.
btw, would you like to exchange links? 🙂
done and done!
I had a dream I was in New York last night. I wonder can I add Frock to my dream inventory and call in there on my next astral travels?
I mean, I am usually naked in these dreams so why not go to a frock shop?
xx
Hammie, one thing I know Evan could help you out with would be a nudity problem. He’s got the solution!
Wow, I love all of these! You have such glamorous friends x
I like the white dress better with the scarf – I’ll need that to cover up the marinara sauce I’m bound to splat all over myself while wearing a white dress.

Love the dresses! Like the cream with the jacket…
ahhhhh Bob Mackie. I’d like to own something by him. A sketch or a dress… whateves. Something worn by Mitzi Gaynor would be preferred, but I’m not picky.
Beautiful!
I love great vintage like this, because there is such great attention to detail. That first dress really is sweet.
Ooh yes– thanks for sharing the vintage stores– and local for me, too 🙂 I’m starting to get back into vintage, after years of staying away. I think it’s because I used to thrift so much in college that I veered away from it in my 20s. Now I’m back!
The white dress is beautiful.
