Good grief! We forgot to observe Squirrel Appreciation Day yesterday. Order your Wendy Brandes squirrel necklace in gold or silver now, so that you will be better prepared next year.
This lovely young lady is already enjoying her squirrel necklace.
Another young lady who loves her squirrel necklace is gorgeous blogger and client Lisa. Lisa ordered hers from my website and, after she received it, she emailed me to say how amazed she was that the design was 3D — perfectly finished on both sides rather than just pressed into the metal on one side. That’s the kind of quality you get when you buy Wendy Brandes jewelry. I make the pieces for my namesake collection just a few at a time here in New York City; they’re not stamped out cheaply by the hundreds or thousands in an overseas factory. I myself review each piece (not each design — each PIECE) to make sure it’s something I personally would wear, and I have seriously high standards for what I wear.
Here are some other 3D designs of mine:
- The Matilda Necklace — a sword that pulls out of its scabbard — is engraved and set on both sides. That means two rose-cut diamonds and four blue sapphires per necklace.
- The Oak Leaf Necklace has a distinct front and back, just like a real leaf. I made it in silver, but you can also order in in 18K white, rose or yellow gold.
- The Isabella Wolf-Fang Necklace in silver or gold is not only finished on both sides, but when you look at it head-on, you’ll see tiny nostrils on the snout. That level of detail makes this one of my favorite designs. This piece also has major heft. People are always surprised by the weight when they pick it up because they’re used to lightweight, inexpensively made jewelry. When you buy the Isabella, you’re getting a lot for your money. To me, the solidity of the piece gives it a private, subtle luxuriousness.
Awww…super cute! I was just on Lisa’s blog, and she was wearing the squirrel necklace 🙂
Adorable. I want to get something for my 5 yr old niece. Where can I view your collection?
I love all of your poison rings. When I’m done with my closet overhaul I am going to start saving to get me one. They are so amazing and I love how they have little stories behind them. =) Definitely much better than mass produced crap with no inspiration behind them.
That’s it, I’m going to stop buying shoes and save up for one of your pieces. That is my quarterly goal for 2009. I will have a Wendy B piece if I have to starve first. Pray that the Aussie dollar gains on yours so this goal can be achieved quicker.
Wendy! I never realized this before but my friend who I do the Sex Savages on Wheels blog with named her daughter Isabella Wolf Hamilton. Hilarious that it’s also the name of that amazing necklace! I’ll have to show her this asap.
Keut! And I’m with Lenya. Come the end of this year, I will have something!

Hi there-the only dilemma with owning a WendyB piece is choosing one-each are gorgeous, stunning and unique, you do make it difficult for your customers, LOL!!
Oh, adorable pieces!

I’m definitely getting myself one of those squirrels one of these days. If any money ever comes into this house, I’m not squirreling it away, I’m investing in a squirrel instead!

I just keep telling myself that one day I’ll have enough money to buy myself something of yours. It’s all so perfect, you are incredible.
You know I’m saving like a good un for the Isabella wolf collection, necklace, earrings they will be mine!!
Squirrel Appreciation Day? This can’t be real! How odd!
Wendy!
Very cute necklace!! Love love love!
Thanks so much for the indication about the vintage stores! I can´t wait to get there!!!! It will so much fun!
a kiss and a hug for you friend,
Kira
I love the cheeks on that little girl as she checks out her new necklace . . .
A squirrel sat on my knee in a park once – true story. I love your jewellery ever so much x
omg… i can’t believe i missed squirrel day! i had my foucs on groundhog day… so it must have slipped my feeble mind.
Oh WendyB, you have to take advantage of the Twilight craze (ya know, the strange book/movie phenom!). There are millions of girls who are on Team Jacob–the werewolf. They would absolutely go crazy when they see your Isabella Wolf piece! Your sales will skyrocket!!!
(I’m on Team Edward. He’s the vampire.)
There’s a Squirrel Appreciation Day?! Awesome! Is there a Penguin Appreciation Day… and an accompanying necklace? Because I would be all over that!
Yesterday was Squirrel Appreciation Day? Crap. Now I feel horrible. A squirrel asked me for some spare change and I told it to get a job.
LOVELY! :-)))
I love your squirrels, and your new profile pic!
xoxox,
CC
the cats and i celebrated squirrel day by tempting them to our fire escape with sunflower seeds, staring at them and miaowing. I wanted champagne too but the boys voted me down.
the matilda necklace kills me every time.
i love the leave and the young lady is very cute with the necklace. start them young, wendy!
I love my Isabella Wolf Fang Necklace! I have attempted to take pictures of me wearing it but my son thinks it’s funny to jump in the picture – soon I promise!!
Now THAT is a cute little girl. No one is allowed to tell my 4 year old about that kid. My daughter only gets Target dollar section jewelry!
Wow, the fact that it’s 3-D really does show your fantastic attention to detail. I cannot believe that you weren’t always a jewelry designer, you’re so fantastic at it! x
i dieeeeeeee for that matilda.
Wendy!
Thanks a lot one more time for the great indications in NYC. I just mention you at my blog 🙂
a kiss for you girl!
Happy belated Squirrel Appreciation Day! =)
P.S. Another perk of the 3D squirrel: I’m right-handed and I get annoyed when the clasp for a necklace has to be done up on the left-hand side for the pendant to be facing forward properly. There is no fumbling with the 3D squirrel as regardless of whether you’re right- or left-handed, the squirrel side is always facing up. 😀
P.P.S. I’m still really loving my squirrel, in case you couldn’t tell.
I know how brilliant the three-dimensional detail is on that Matilda necklace. I tried to abscond with it one night, after wearing it to a party. I fiddled with it all night.
Unfortunately for me, when I made for the door at the end of the night, Miss WendyB stopped me, threatening to pinch me into oblivion. Not wanting to die that horrible death, I handed the necklace back to her, but only grudgingly so.
i loveee that ring susanna is wearing! 🙂
xoxo,
La C.
Aw, how cute!!
You make me ashamed to say I'm wearing an H&M necklace. Your pieces are AMAZING. Do you know how much I want the bat-in-agate necklace? Alot.
Don’t sleep on the squirrels. They may seem friendly, but they’re all just stylish rats.
Beautiful work!
ahh i love your Isabella wolf-fang necklace! I just had to blog about it!!! Perhaps I will be spending my tax rebates on this ^_^
By the way, I know of two rather prominent little girls who might be charmed to receive their own squirrel necklaces . . . Does WendyB want some PR in Washington, DC?
Yea I love me some Janis Joplin 🙂
Yea I love me some Janis Joplin 🙂
You’re right Wendy, its just so sad when you know a relationship HAS to dissolve 🙁
It is very admirable for you to inspect each piece off your line. It just shows how immaculate you are and how you really belive in your designs and products. Out of the three that you’ve shown my favourite is the wolf fang necklace also. Its so unique and the detailing you mention elevates it above all the rest.
I’m still in love with that sword.
Also, why do we have a squirrel appreciation day? They’re terrible creatures! Always stealing birdseed and all that…
Now children are more stylish than me? Damnit.
You know Miss Wendy, the Squirrel Lovers Association of America (or some such group) really needs to confer an award upon you. You have done more to raise the collective Squirrel Consciousness of the fashionable set than any other entity!
And in such a stylish way, we must add!
tp
All fabulous! And how cute on the little girl!
that matilda piece is awesome!!
your young client looks adorable in that!
xx-LJ from SOS!
I’ll try and bless my own children with your jewels when I grow up…whenever that may be….
